I have always been overweight, but I was not able to loose any weight any longer. No matter what I tried, I was slowly gaining ounce by ounce. I have a 21 year old son and a 4 year old son. I was to the point that I didn't want to do anything with my 4 year old, didn't want to get dressed, leave the house or do anything. I was miserable. I already had High BP, have had a small pin stroke, had sleep apnea and I was headed for diabetes and heart problems. I realized that if I didn't do something, I would not be able to see my son grown and see my grandchildren (when I had them).
My journey to bariatric surgery started in September of 2005. I had always said that I would "Never" go to the extremes of having weight loss surgery. But, in May of 2005 one of my best friends husband had surgery and I watched him and saw what it was doing for him and so I decided to go to a Seminar. September 24, I went and came out of there knowing that I was going to do it. I done everything I needed to do, went for my Doctor Consultation, Psychological and Dietician appoint on October 17. November 21st I got the call that I was approved - November 29, I had surgery.
This was the best decision I have ever made for myself. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have lost 84 pounds and have about 40 more to loose. I have been at a standstill, but it has all been my fault. I started eating things that I shouldn't and cut back on my walking/exercise. I am trying to get back on track and by doing so, I have lost about 5 pounds already.
I thank God everyday that I am getting healthier and can do the things that I have not been able to do for years. This was the BEST decision I have made for myself. I now have an 8 month granddaughter and it is wonderful. I love being a mother again and a grandmother!!
