thoughts from the past 13 months
Jan 28, 2009
I have been so blessed in my life to have been able to take this journey. I had WLS 13 months ago and I feel amazing. I have lost over 100 pounds and I am within 20 pounds of my goal weight and I plan on being there before summer. Losing weight has always been hard for me, and still is even after surgery. I may not have made my goal weight in a year but I will before 18 months. I am so excited for what this has opened up in my life. I owe so much to my family and friends for all the support that they have and continue to give today. I am now a graduate from the PN progam and I take my nursing boards on Feb 5 and I am so excited to start a new life for myself, and hopefully one where I can have a social life. I am moving to a towm where people do not know me or my past so I am hoping that it will help me be able to find a man who I can spend the rest of my life with. I am now doing things that I never in my life thought that I could accomplish, and it is all because of this amazing journey that I have had the prevelage of being able to take. I had surgery dec 07 and I then started the LPN program Jan 08 and I made it, even though I was still sore and having problems from surgery and ajusting to my new lifestyle. I made and I am so thankfull for what I have been able to do in my life. 2 years ago I never would have dreamed that I would be active again, and enjoy life. I wear a sixe 12-14 and that still blows my mind away, and I still have 20-25 pounds left to go before I hit my goal weight. Thanks for being with me this far in my journey and I hope you stick with my as I continue on this amazing journey after I started a new life with the tools to diet, exercise and lose weight thanks to my surgen and WLS.

I am almost done with school as well and I am so excited to start a new life for myself. I just have to figure out what I want to do. I have fone really well since my surgery and I am feel better every day.
over 7 months since my surgury

Wow It is so amazing how fast time flies. So much has happened in the last 7 months. I have lost over 80 pounds and I feel great. I only have about 40 more pounds to lose. I feel so much better, and I am doing things now that I have not done in years. I went to my regular dr about 1 month ago and all the health problems that I had before my surgury are gone. The only meds I take is vitamins and calcium. That is pritty amazing to me. I also turned 21 I got to go hiking around my bday which is the last thing that I expected to do and to enjoy it. Life is great and I am so happy that I decided to do WLS.
almost 5 months out

Wow has time flown. I will have had my WLS for 5 months this comming saturday the 17th of May. I can't believe how fast time has gone by and how far I have come. I have now lost around 75 pounds and I cannot believe that I have really lost that much weight in 5 months. I like looking at pictures because I can actually tell that I have lost weight. I need to retrain my mind to that I will be able to see it in the mirror as well. I never regret the decision that I made to have suegury. But it is still a struggle and probably always will be. i just wish my years of weight watcher and healthy diets like that would actually have worked it would have been so much easier. I am also done with my first semester of nursing and I passed with flying colors all A's and B's. Which is pritty cool since I am a C student. As I am comming up on my 6 month anniversary I have a lot of thinking to do and I will update that later. It amazes me what I have accomplished and how much better I feel 75 pounds down. I am now in a size 16 and I am so excited about it. I was figuring that a size 16 is what I would be when I hit y goal weight but I still have about 55 pounds to lose which is pritty cool. I have gone from a size 24 to a size 16-18 depending on the clothes and I am so happy that I made the decision i did even though it was the hardest one I have ever made.
10 weeks out

Hey all I am doing great and I am about 10 weeks out fron my RNY. I feel great and it is good th see the weight come off. My weight loss has decreased a lot but I am still losing 2-5 pounds a week which I guess is good. At least i am still losing. I am getting adjusted to my new lifestyle. The only problem that I run in to is that I live alone and trying to cook for just me when I eat very little is super hard. But I have started making tv dinners and putting them in the freezer so that I dont waste as much food as I did before. I feel great, and I have less the 90 pounds to lose. I have had to get almost a entire new wardrobe, but most are hamidowns for family which is good. I am in the nursing program and that is super stressful, which is making it even harder to eat well, and exercise and to actually take the time eat slow. But I am trying to get better. I cant believe I am already 10 weeks out that is so crazy.

Hey
It was 2 weeks yesterday that I had my surgury. Everything went well, and within a few days there was really no pain, I was just sore. I am almost back to normal. I am still tired very easily but hopefully will get better when I start school, and will actually have access to a gym. I feel great and I have lost about 30 pounds so far, which totally amazes me. But I feel lots better than before my surgury, and it will only get better. Well let me know if you have any questions.

On Dec 13th was my preop appt. I was really good, and I still can't believe that this is really happening on Monday the 17th. It seems like it should have not been this easy. I am all set up at the hospital, so no paperwork the day of surgury. That will be so nice. My mom is going with me. I am so blessed that she will take a week off work for me. I learned about what to expect while i am in the hospital, and I also learned about the 3 different stages of diets that I am going to be on. It was great. I will let you all know how the surgury goes on Monday. It will be great, and see ya on the losing side.
