I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK on your surgery. Take a deep breath, try to relax. Know that we all care about you and are wishing you the best. Think positive, it really does help. After surgery, remember to turn, cough, take deep breaths, and walk to prevent complications. Hold your incision when you cough, it helps it hurt less. Keep your profile updated, it may make a difference in the live of someone else. Smile, keep your chin up! And lastly, if your chin does fall, just remember, from this position it is easier to moon people! :) (Also, humor helps too!)

Open- and incision from your zyphoid process (about 3 fingers width down in the center of your chest even with your nipples) to your naval. lap- is 6 small 1/2 incisions to where they place scopes and needed devices into to assist with the surg. open is more painful r/t a longer incision. but both stay in the hosp for about the same amt of time. some drs will only do lap on you depending on your abdominal girth (how round your abdomen is) because the scopes are only so long and cant go through large amts of fatty tissue. hope this kind of helps. Best of Luck, Tamara

Hi Kimberly, I had Dr McCarty. I can't recommend him more highly. I researched doctors very heavily in the Dallas area and I felt he was one of the best. I also recommend Drs Kuhn and Barzune even though Barzune does not do Lap surgery.
