February Come and Gone!
Mar 05, 2008
The weight comes off so slowly!!!! But when I look at the big picture - I'm down a total of 40 pounds since December 5th - That's over 13 pounds a month!! At this pace, by summer I could be at my goal weight!
(I just love the happy dance
) Now I can say I have a clear picture of my goal, and PRAY I can make it happen. I'm working out at least twice a week now, and try to do other things to keep busy. Eating is still a wonderful thing, I get hungry, but fill up quickly. I do get alot of protein in, and still try to avoid pasta and rice. I find it getting more difficult, and am wanting to give in to the Lean Cuisines with the pastas - they're so very good! I'm loving the Birds Eye Veggies in the freezer pouches, they're awesome! Anyway, just thought I'd give a little update. I go back in to see Dr. D. for my check-up on Monday.... wish me luck!

Four Weeks Post-Op!
Jan 16, 2008
Well, four weeks down, and yes, the scales DID move again!!!
This week has been okay - not much new to report other than I'm down a total of 30 pounds. Clothes are really starting to get baggy, and I'm gonna have to figure out what I can and can't wear, and try to get by not shopping yet since I hope to continue to loose. Good thing I have lots of elastic! I'm trying to walk a bit more since I haven't been doing that as I should. I get so bored! I have a treadmill that I need to get into my bedroom so I can at least watch TV while walking on it. I think I'll try to get that set up this week. Food is not the enemy anymore. I'm ready to start having more variety, but am still leary of eating some things. It's especially weird not to eat bread or salad or pasta. I think I still have "head hunger", but I do control it, so it's not getting to me. Eating s-l-o-w-l-y is the key.... and I still have to remind myself to do that. As the days pass, I am so thankful I've had this procedure done and am finally loosing weight. I'm so encouraged!

Three Weeks Post-Op
Jan 09, 2008
Well, three weeks ago, I was struggling with nausea, pain and trying to move around! Alot has changed. No more nausea or pain, just a little "tinge" when I use my stomach muscles (sneezing or coughing), a couple of small scabs still on my abdomen, and eating is still a slight challenge. I've not lost ANY weight in the last week - still down 25 pounds, but that's it. I guess a stall now and then is possibly normal, so I hope that's all it is..... I really expect to see the scales move again - SOON!
I can definately tell a difference in my clothes, and so that's feeling really good. I assume I still have swelling in my abdomen, cause I can't stand anything tight around my waist. I'm trying to stick to mostly cream soups because they're satisfying, but am doing some veggies mashed up as well. I like Talapia too,and sometimes canned chicken or tuna. though not often. I drink water, decaf coffee and tea, and have had wine in the past week with no problems. All in all, I feel great and am anxious to get through the next three weeks so I can get back in the gym! I'll post again next week, and hopefully will see a change in my numbers!
Two Weeks Post-OP
Jan 03, 2008
Well, two weeks down and a few more pounds too! Wow, this surgery really works! I went to my first nutrition class on Monday (New Year's Eve) and was down a total of 20 pounds from my pre-op visit on Dec. 5th. This week, I started my mushie foods, and I can tell you - I'm BLOWN AWAY by the amount of food I "can't" eat and be satisfied. It takes a while to get used to eating slower and smaller bites, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy. My only complaint is my food gets cold!!! I still have trouble getting in all my protein, so that's a challenge, but I'm trying to do it with food rather than the protein supplements. I got really burned out on Slim Fast, and didn't like the "fruity" flavor of some of the others. So I'm eating tuna and tilapia and will work through this. Yesterday was my first day back at work, and it was kinda rough. On the way in, I sneezed and forgot to brace myself. It really hurt!
So I was real sore all day and even got nausea again. I HATED that! Once I got home, I took some tylenol and laid on the couch and settled in. Feel great today! By my scales this morning, I'm down another 5 pounds since Monday, so I don't know if they're right or not, but my clothes are sure baggy, so I'm going with it! I still have four weeks before I can get back in the gym and do something besides walk, but I'm looking forward to that. I'm ready to see the new me!!!

I'm Post-Op and Sleeved!
Dec 26, 2007
It's a week and a day since surgery and I'm finally feeling human again! The procedure was a success and the hospital stay was amazing. The staff at Vista Hospital are incredible and I felt so cared for. I was amazed at the care and consideration given at this facility, and would recommend it to everyone! Dr. Davidson is also very competent and professional.
I've gotten through the first post-op week of a clear liquid diet, and added cream soups yesterday, I feel very satisfied when I eat now, cause I have something besides broth and Crystal Lite!! Getting the protein in each day is still a challenge.
I'm down a total of 18 pounds since the pre-op visit on December 5th and am on my way!

Tomorrow is MY day!!
Dec 17, 2007
Ikes, it's here! Tomorrowis my day. I went to the hospital this morning to have my blood drawn and BP and pulse. I also had to weigh again.... since the liquid diet, I'm down 14 pounds!! So looser's bench, here I come!! My BP was higher than normal, so I don't like that, but it didn't seem to be a hinderance. I'm at work today and am trying to figure how to leave early so I can start the drinking the "yuck" flush. NOT looking forward to that. Have to be at the hospital at 5:15 and so this will be my last little post. Thank you all for your support and well wishes! I look forward to posting post-op! Bye for now!
Getting Easier....
Dec 11, 2007
Okay, I'm doing better with the hunger - not so bad now and the cream soups really help alot! As long as I can have those, I feel like I'm eating, which is good, cause tonight is my last night to enjoy a box meal... ugh! This week I have a couple of Christmas parties, so that will be a challenge - I'm hoping to get through not eating without alot of questions.... also - the goodies at work keep coming in every day, so I'm thinking I need to get out of the kitchen where all the food is kept! I'm down approx. 8 lbs on my scale at home since last week at pre-op. Of course, they weighted my in the afternoon after I'd had lunch and I'm weighing in the mornings on an empty stomach... so we'll see what I look like on Monday on my follow up weigh-in. 8 more days!!!
I'm Hungry!!!
Dec 08, 2007
It's only my third day on meal replacements and I'm hungry! I think tonight instead of a lean cuisine, I'll fix a very low cal meal to eat - something a bit more substantial. I've found a couple of cream soups I really like, so I'm using those sparingly. I've gone through a case of water, alot of jello, and quite a few sf popcicles. I'd die for some pasta!!
How do I get through these two weeks??? Trying to stay busy.... please pray for me!!

Dec 05, 2007
Yeah! I got my pre-op behind me and am on my way to surgery on the 19th!! One week of two liquid meal replacements and a Lean Cuisine a day, and the final week of liquids only. That's the good news. The bad news is, I woke up this morning with Strep Throat!! So I called the Dr's office and they are prescribing penicillin to begin taking for the next 10 days. Go figure. I had gained 12 pounds since I was last in the office in July, so I'm told I have to loose 10 lbs by the 17th, or they'll cancel the surgery. Now THAT's my motivation!!! The strep will certainly help me meet that goal. Yes, I am a woman of faith, and God has His way of helping us along when we least expect it. Not that He made me sick, but He sure knows how to get my attention!!
Now that I have my schedule, I feel empowered and more convicted than ever that this is the right thing to do for me. I will miss Christmas with my family, but I am doing what is best for my health, so it will be worth it. Maybe they can come here this year! Oh well, perhaps it'll be a nice quiet Christmas at home with a fire and old movies and good rest. 13 days to go......
