Although I was never skinny I wasn't seriously overweight until my late 20's and things just got worse. I'd lose 20 pounds and gain 30, I'd lose 40 pounds and gain 50 and so it would go. Finally in 2002, I decided enough was enough and got very serious about Atkins. I lost almost 50 pounds and went to the gym 3-4 days a week. A year later, I couldn't do another summer of no fruits so I was trying to transition to South Beach and had regained about 20 pounds. While trying to figure out how to reverse this slide I broke my left leg just below the knee, had surgery, a 5-day hospital stay, 6 weeks in bed and lots of rehab. Then I regained all the 50 pounds, plus another 15 *groan*. I started seriously looking at WLS in summer of 2005. It had been in the back of my mind but I was determined to try "one more time". I have finally come to the conclusion that I can lose the weight but I can't keep it off so I have my fingers and toes crossed that I have finally found a tool to help me keep the weight off for good!
