"I ended up in surgery earlier than planned. The staff were genuinely caring and concerned and treated me with respect. They made me feel comfortable. The PACU nurses were wonderful. Julia Lovely was the best! She rubbed my back twice, found me an egg crate mattress to lay on, and she even got me a real pillow. :) She was the sweetest person and I felt she truly was there for me. The other nurses were very nice too and one gave me a shaker to use to get their attention if I needed to. They moved me to the darker, quieter end of the PACU when it was time to sleep. I felt very well attended to. The nurses were so surprised that I was up and walking that evening. "
"My first impression of him was that he was awfully young. My age, or a bit older. I met with him 3 different times. The first time was to discuss if he would take me on as a no blood transfusion patient. He agreed. The second was to meet with him and discuss the surgery. The third was a quick check-in during the preadmissions testing. He was very nice. The office and staff are very nice. They have very large chairs there that are made for obese patients. They are set over to the side and blocked off a bit too so I didn't feel embarrassed or like I was being watched. They have a lot to get through at UMASS, but I heard that they have shortened the waiting time by adding more staff members. I love the program and all the people! "
