Where do I start as to how I decided to have the lap band surgery at such a young age.  My primary physican told me I was too young at age 22 to be having lap band surgery.  I told him I was doing it to get my diabetes under control again and to improve my health overall.  At the age of 22, I was at my highest weight I have ever been and that was 282.  I said that is enough.  I had tried LA weight loss, home diets, eating healthy and exercising and just kept packing on the pounds and even more.

I called my parents and told them that I would like them to come to a weight loss surgery meeting with me put on by Dr. Peter O'Brien.  I was very impressed and that night I had made my decision that I was going to do it and get this weight off.  I started the process on Nov. 21st, the week of Thanksgiving.  I seen the surgeon and within a few weeks I was approved and next thing I knew I was scheduled for surgery on Dec. 27, 2007.  That day came and my blood sugar was too high for me to have surgery.  The surgeon and anestialogist(sp) didn't want to see me end up in icu and having more issues wrong with me.  My heart fell to my knees.  I was so depressed that day and I immediatly went to my diabetes dr. and told them the situation and they were incontact with the surgeron.  I then had to wait to see if surgery would be going on the next day or not.

I got a phone call around 1:30pm and was told that I would be having surgery the next morning.  I was so excited to be getting this done.  So Dec. 28th, I went under the knife.  I couldn't believe the recovery time.  I just had issues sleeping cause of the incissions.  I was used to sleeping on my stomach.

It is now May 23, 2008, and am down almost 30lbs and my diabetes is doing much better.  I am down 1 almost 2 pants sizes.  I have so much energy since having the surgery.  I would recommend this to anyone. I will keep everyone posted.
