Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hosptial

"Each and every nurse that came into my room was nice, sweet and attentive...ONCE THEY FINALLY GOT THERE! My needs were met physically, but sleep was elusive due to the noise and general discomfort of staying in the hospital. The nurses on the 3-11pm shift were loud and obnoxious, cutting up and whooping it up. It sounded as if they were watching a wrestling match outside of my room! At one point I needed help getting back into bed with the IV etc... I stood at the edge of my bed and cried because noone came to assist me. I sat in the chair by my bed and fell asleep for over an hour. NOONE ever came to check on me, because the IV was STILL beeping when I woke up. Also, they gave me ice chips right after the surgery, which is a no-no. They should have known better! If you have to stay in this hospital, I would definately arrange for a family member or someone to stay with you. The nurses are terribly overworked and although they are sweet as can be, they are often scarce. "

"04/14/04 I have not met with Dr. O'Connell yet. I have talked to several patients of his, and he has an excellent reputation. "
