I called Kathy a little while ago. Her pain was finally under control although her back is still bothering her and she was beginning to start her clear liquids. They had also taken out her foley catheter. They had not evacuated her from the hospital (obviously) and she didn't know anything about it when I mentioned it--I had heard on the news this morning that they were evacuating some patients. So far, so good!

I called Kathy a few minutes ago since I'm not able to visit her tonight due to the hurricane--she's experiencing a bit of pain due to her PCA not working for her. I'm not sure whether or not they had tried any other meds for her yet, she sounded pretty miserable and I didn't want to keep her on the phone. I'll check on her again in the morning.

Kathy's surgery went very well! They said there was a lot of scar tissue due to her previous surgeries, but nothing else seemed to be an issue. I visited her last night and she was doing just fine! She was not too uncomfortable and looked great. :)

Kathy, I can't believe your day is almost here at last. I know that you will come through this surgery with the same amazing attitude that you approach everything else in your life with--I have no doubts that you will do an incredible job of using your tool to become the healthier person you seek to be.

Hi Kathy, Was just browsing Dr. Murr's page checking up on Marla and Karee and noticed your date is coming. Just wanted to let you know we are here and sending our thoughts and prayers. I will be at the orientation at the hospital on the 12th if all goes well with my EGD and colonoscopy on Monday here at home. I will be thinking of you while I am there. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
