"1/19/03 I met Dr. Cunneen for my initial consultation today. He was very personable and articulate. I didn't feel rushed or like he was bored with the same old questions and answers. After talking with him, I decided to try for approval for LapBand surgery w/BC/BS of Michigan (I'm in L.A., but my company isn't...) If I can't get the okay for that, I'll go for gastric bypass. Insurance approval takes 4-6 weeks, he said.... Exciting!
8/21/03 Dr. Khalili became my surgeon, rather than Dr. Cunneen. I heard it was because Dr. Khalili does the RNY's. He seemed very competent. Though my RNY was set for 8/13, while I was in surgery, he found some spots he was concerned about and ended up doing a biopsy and CT Scan instead. I am so glad that he did. Everything turned out okay (read my profile), but I know that when I go back in, I will have a 100% clean bill of health! Maybe not a warm bedside manner, but I trusted him and was glad that he acted with such great restraint! His staff is extraordinary--caring and hardworking. It's been a long journey--and it's not over yet!"
