Barix Clinics (NW Suburban Com. Hospital)

"I like that it was just meant for gastric by-pass patients. But I did feel a little scared that if something were to happen I would be transported else where."

Roy Berkowitz

"My first impression of Dr. Berkowitz was great. He seemed to have a very pleasant bedside manner, took his time and was very knowledgeable. He made me very comfortable, I didn't feel like I was taking SATs or was going to be tested on what I was told. His staff was very polite, they did seem hurried, (I was the last appointment of the day). I did wish I would have taken my tape recorder. This probably sounds bad but he seemed really short, I am pretty tall and I figured me on the OR table I hope he can get to everything. I am sure he handles this just fine. He probably is tall enough. Future patients should be able to ask any questions that come to their mind, no matter how simple or direct. I asked him how many patients he had killed, he laughed, and said well my ratio is 1.41%! Guess it was an ice breaker. I feel with my appointments at 2, 4, 6 weeks and probably more my aftercare will be great. If not my PCP, who is an internist will be watching my progress. I know all risks of this procedure, and anything I am not sure about I research and ask him if this is true or possible. Overall a 9. Only reason not a ten, was because I felt rushed by staff. Surgical compentence is most important to me. If I trust a doctor and his skills then his bedside manner may be excused. Dr. Berkowitz is very professional so he has both, which is most desireable!"
