november,4th 2006 went to see the nutritionest today. doing good lost another 4# so that makes a total of #35. Also all my paper work has been received by my surgon and my medical release has been sighned by my regular dr. now it is too be shipped of to the insurance co. and Wait!!
and wait I did.....2 days beforeChristmas recieved "the envelope" in the mail.
It was my letter of denial.Talk about a "dear John" letter. Congratulations on your 35# weight loss,keep up the great work it said !! I was sooooo upset went and had a pepsi...............haden't had one since june 6th. and i think i ate everything I wanted for 2 days. called the wls clinic since it had been closed for the Christmas holidays.Well at the office they told me that a letter of apeall was already started on my behalf. The St. John Comprehensive W.L.S. Talk about a catch 22. surgon wanted me too get my b.m.i under 50 I do then the insurance co. denies me.
3 weeks later in jan i recieved a call from Rhea I"M APPROVED !!!! holy cow. I was shocked. Time too set up my p.a.t she said plan on 4 hrs. They can do the w.ls on feb. 14th. hmmmmmmmm valentines day ?? what a gift. But unfortunitly my work schedual would not let me have it on that day settled on feb 28th.
Feb 8th. well here it is my p.a.t day my wonderful husband of 29 years went with me.I think it finally hit him,how serious this w.l.s really is, blood clots,strictures,leakage......are just a few of many. had a e.kg,x-ray,talked with anastoligest,nurse nutritionist,doctor,and had "8" vials of blood drawn that day. lso starting on feb 15th. I am too start a pre-op full liquid protien diet.Consisting of protien shakes,s.f pudding low fat yogurt s.f applesauce and cream of wheat yummy.
Feb.15th.2007 here it is, pre-op diet day starts, 3 day in ............I'm starving and want too sink my teeth into something crunchy. I think its harder too because its the weekend,thats when i did my major eating. I do pretty good at work.
Feb 29.2007 surgery day is here,scared nervous, all systems go........ Surgery went well.......but comming outta the anesthetic did not go so well b.p dropped,had a reaction to the epadural,do not remeber hardly nothing at all,from that time on was supposed to be in hospital 3 days ended up being 6 .Someone from my family,husband,sister,mother ,was with me 24/7 stayed right in the room with me. I bloated up so much not even slippers would fit on my feet,they ended up giving me lasix,heart monitor,and c-pap machine.Then they pain injection they gave me I had a reaction too also,Gave me dry heaves,heart palpatations,and instant heat flushing. Put that in my chart,next shift that came on ,tried giving me the same pain injection,good thing sister was there to stop the nurse,and nurse kept insisting that was the drug I was to get .And my sister told her to go read my chart again!!!! Finally discharged with lots of information to go home on.
March,2007 Not doing well at all soooooooo tired and dragging,exchausted ,can't eat or drink,smell of food just sends me vomiting. Could not even drink water,just walikng past the cat food dish would send me over the edge,finally husband said thats it your going back to e.r. Called my surgen he said to get into hospital,was admitted and given i.v's and schedualed for a scope for possible stricture. They said I was so dehydrated,no matter how much I would have drank I would have never brought myself out of it. I thought it was my worst nightmare come true and what have I done to myself?? Well did the scope and no stricture found. Got me pumped full of fluids and sent me home with composene. After I got home took meds for about a week and then I was fine.
o.k more too come.............
Oct..3,2008 Has been along time since I updated, i am glad I had the surgery I have a loss of 180# Still need to lose about 40# . and anything after that would be a bonus. Will be looking into plastic surgery after that. I do still struggle with the getting in all my water,which leads to my constipation problems, I did end up in e.r for that,and they said drink drink drink...........
It is so great to be able to go to a regular store and buy cloathing,instead of a catalog,or a specilty store. I was in a 6x top and pants where size 54. Now its a 1x top and 18 or 20 pants size........
