This year started off like every other year.  I was going to join the "Y", and finally lose some weight.  My starting weight was 262.  From January to April the most I had lost was 10 pounds.  I was feeling very frustrated one day when one of my friends told me about a co-worker who was going to have bariatric surgery (Gastric Sleeve).  I had heard of weight loss surgery, but didn't think I was heavy enough to qualify.  I started researching as much as I could about it.  I started going to support groups.  I finally got enough courage to call and set up an appointment.  My visit with Dr. Mark Hausmann was very educational.  My BMI was 43 (morbidly obese)... and I didn't think I was heavy enough L.  There were several tests that I had to take, but my surgery was scheduled for May 12, 2008.  I was seeing a light at the end of my fat tunnel.

Then I got a terrible phone call.  The psychiatrist who evaluated me was not recommending me for surgery.  She said that I needed to wait awhile because I am bipolar, and she didn't think my medicine was right.  So I found a new psychiatrist and started seeing him on a regular basis.  After a few months of visits, he OK'd me for the surgery.  So now I have a new surgery date, August 25th, 2008.  I have one more week to wait and I am getting very excited.
