Hmmmmm..things to make you go hmmmmmmmmmm.

Thanks OH and my friends for your support,

Now to work on getting phycically active, lose that last 20 lbs and maybe even up to 40 lbs but now I have to work at it. No more free rides.

Its been a long time!

Feb 05, 2010

Wow, I can't believe I havent blogged since October. Time flyies I guess. All is good with me. It's now been 11 months since surgery and I'm now down 112.5 lbs since the begining of my journey. The weight loss has really slowed down, but I seem to be maintaining my weight which is a good thing. I have 1 more month before my surgery anniversary and would like to lose at least another 10 lbs but to do that I am going to have get motivated and get out and do some exercise. My eating has remained the same for the last few months but I now can tolerate pretty much everything, except for high fat and high surgar stuff which I shouldn't be eating any way. The protien levels are low according to the last blood test in December but I just cant stand the shakes anymore so I need to eat protien, protien and protien. I'm trying drinking milk instead of water between meals and that seems to be working. I'm also thinking I might join weight watchers as a way to get good support group but not sure it thats the rigth course of action.

Well thats it for now.
Cheers!

Century Club Member!

Oct 09, 2009

Yup, that's right I'm a century club member. I am now down 102.5 lbs as of this morning and I have just got to say..YAHOO!!!!

I started this journey on January 8, 2009 with joining weight watchers as a way to prepare for surgery. I lost 15 lbs by the time my surgery date of March 16th arrived and had already made some big changes such as no more diet coke or fast food and had added exercise into my life for the first time in years.

On March 16th I had my surgery and came through with flying colours. No complications, very little pain and I recovered pretty quickly and was back to work by the first week of April. The next 3 to 4 months were challenging. I had many food issues and I needed to retrain the brain. The biggest thing I needed to learn was to slow down while eating and chew, chew and chew. If I remembered that I was good, but if not it was puke city.

During the 3rd or 4th month I lost a lot of hair. Handfuls and handfuls and was quite worried but by the 5th month it was growing back and I think I'm back to normal now.

I've gone from size 26/ 28 to 16/18 and have changed my entire wardrobe. Thank God for second hand stores and friends otherwise I would be in the poor house but I have to say I love clothes shopping.

And the very best thing about hitting the 100 lbs mark is the compliments. My self esteem is increased 10 fold and I walk taller and straighter and I must say I have a much happier out look for sure.

So, now that I've reached that "big" goal the next will be under the 200 mark and that should be pretty darn easy as I'm 200.5 now. Then it's onto focusing on the final goal which is 170 which I really hope to hit by January 2010 but my weight loss has slowed down some so it may be to high of a goal at this point but we are going to try anyway.

Thanks to my
OH family for all their support. Without this website I would have been lost. Love you all!
Cheers

The stall is over!

Sep 18, 2009

Yup, the scale is now moving..down 4 lbs this week and feeling pretty fantastic if I do say so myself.  I've been working at going to the gym and gaining some of my muscle back and it's working. I no longer feel like I have jello legs and I seem to have more stamina now although I still get tired almost exhausted by the end of the day but I sleep good and wake up felling good.

It's been 6 months since surgery and I'm very close to the 100 lb ( 94 lbs down)  mark and from what I have read that is a pretty fast loss and I could experience very slow loss from now on but I'm ok with that...as they say slow and steady wins the race.

The greatest thing since losing the weight so far is my increased self confidence. I seem to carry myself better, have more happy days than sad and I'm not so emotional. I love the new me and I love all the complements. There have been a few people who are not so supportive but I just ignore them and focus on the "good" people in my life...Like my OH Family!

So...next goal is to get to that 100 lb mark which I really wanted to hit at my 6 month anniversary but if I could do that by Thanksgiving ( where we have a huge family gathering) it would be wonderful.

Cheers!

It happened

Aug 28, 2009

I haven't lost anyhing for two weeks. This is the first stall I've had since surgery and I know it's normal and I shouldn't be worried but guess what..I am! It's so disappointing and discouraging to not have any success on the scale but I have to get over it for sure. Can't give up now thats for sure. My new goal is to be under 200 lbs by my birthday which is in two weeks. I'm not sure how realistic that is but it would be great if I'm successful. One of the best presents ever!

When I get home tonight I'm going to update my measurements and start to look at those for signs of sucess and I'm adding more and more excerise into my routine and I know the scale may go up as I regain muscle but the inches should show a good result.

I'm also going to be reading and interacting on OH more as well. That way I will get more support as I enter the next phase of my weight loss journey..the phase where I actually have to pay attention to what I eat and when, how much excerise and water I get in. The protien vs carbs phase, the portions vs grazing all day phase. I knew this was coming but I've been enjoying the ride down the slide so to speak and its now time to get more serious.

Wish me luck as I wish you luck
Cheers.

Its been a while

Aug 17, 2009

Yup, it's been a while since I've blogged but everything is still good. I'm now down 88 lbs so only 45 lbs before my goal and it's been 5 months since my surgery so overall I'm happy with my progress. I'm going to a dietian this Thursday so that should be intersting. I'm so scared of going back to old habits now that I can tolerate most foods ( except for dry meats and pastas). Im really hoping this doctor has worked with WLS patients and has some good insights. I really hate writing down everything I eat but I know that is what she is going to get me to do.

Another good thing is the hair loss has slowed down quite a bit. I was a bit worried that I would be bald and skinny . LOL..! But a bad thing happened..I lost my wedding ring!  It must have slipped off my finger as it was a bit loose and I had plans to have it resized this past weekend. I'm very sad about it but my hubby is great and promised me he would replace it.

Well thats it for the update. I'm really going to update pictures and measurements by this weekend as I think keeping a good record is great for motivation and as my weight loss slows down I want to have something to remind me how far I've come.

Cheers! :)

Summer is just to busy to write every week

Jul 24, 2009

Well its 4 months and 2 weeks from surgery and I'm down 80 lbs. YaHoo! Weight loss seems to be slowing some and my energy level has increased. I have 53 lbs to go for my goal of 170 lbs but I may change that to 150 lbs depending on how I feel.

I got an appointment with a dietician in about 3 weeks so hopefully she can help me with my life style change as I seem to be able to eat more and more and I'm finding I'm slipping back to old habits

I've gotten lots of exercise these past two weeks because we moved. Lots of packing, lifting and moving heavy stuff so maybe thats why the low weight loss ( only 2 lbs in the past two weeks) . Now that we are more settled I'm going to get my measurements up to date so I can look at lost inches as well as lost weight.

My hair is falling out in handfuls everyday. I'm going for a hair cut and color tomorrow and hopefully with a new style the hair loss will not show as bad. I'm getting quite thin at the front.

Well, thats about it. Cheers!

Opps missed a week but all is good!

Jul 03, 2009

It's been two weeks since I last blogged..Opps..sorry. Life has been very busy and I was out of town last weekend so I didn't have a computer available. The weight loss is moving along..I'm now down 76 lbs and I'm getting all kinds of complements and I just purchased a pair of size 18 pants which is fantastic!!

This past week I had my 3 month check up and all is good. All my levels were great and the doctor had no concerns. I did however, I've been feeling kind of jittery so the doc lowered the synthroid level and my birth control is not working correctly so now I have a prescription for the patch so hopefully these will get my body working a little better.

These past 2 weeks I've been losing a lot of hair..about 20 strands a day! Yuck!!! Luckily I have a lot of hair but I'm kind of worried. I know it's normal and I know it has to do with my protein levels so I will be working on these. The doc referred me to a dietitian so working with her should help me watch better.

Well, that's it for now. Back to work.
Cheers!

To busy to even think!

Jun 19, 2009

Wow, life is moving just way to fast lately. My WLS has not been on my mind, in fact I didn't really think about it this week, except when I eat that is. We sold our house last week and have been busy every night looking for a new one and it's been very stressful for sure, but hopefully the offer we made last night will be accepted and we can get back to some kind of normal.

Ok, this is the stuff I didn't do; no doctors appointment, no calcium suppliments, 1/2 protien levels reached on average, didn't take pictures or measurements at the 3 month stage.

This is the stuff I did do; lost 4 lbs, drank my water, tried new foods, kept moving.

Hopefully next week will be a bit more normal and I can concentrate on my health, I better! !!

Cheers.

Half way there!

Jun 12, 2009

67 lbs down and half way to goal in 3 short months! Next week I go to the docs to get my levels checked for the first time since surgery and I hope all goes well but I think I might be lacking some iron and calcium but we will see. I haven't been very good on watching the protein levels lately nor have I been taking calcium regularly. ( OK, you can proceed to give me crap and a good kick in the butt! )

I been trying some different foods lately and all is going well, as long as I chew really really well and take my time. I'm also getting more water in and my skin is thanking me for it as I was pretty dry.

The only thing I have to complain about is my dam monthly cycle which is all over the map and very annoying. I was on a birth control to regulate my cycle and minimize the time but I don't think I'm absorbing the medication correctly so I'll add it to the list to talk to the doctor about.

I also need to get exercising regularly as well. We've been so busy lately with putting our house on the market, house hunting and doing some last minute renovations so I haven't been sitting on my butt but I really want to start getting into a routine.

Well that's it for this week.
Cheers
