I had the Lapband placed September 2010.  I did the research and felt it would be the best surgery for me.  I ended up with a port infection less than 6 months into it. The port ended up having to be replaced.  Fast forward 3 years later, I had a barium swallow that showed slight hesitation but not really enough to jusify a band. Hunger still not satisfied with cc after cc of fluid ( 9+ in a 10cc band). My surgeon ordered an EGD.  It revealed complete EROSION. Don't doubt yourself folks.  You know your body better than anybody else. I kept putting it off thinking I was probably slacking on my part....which wasn't the case at all. I have been on a "diet" this whole time.  The pictures show it hasn't been working for quite a while......not what I bargained for when I handed over almost $20,000 for what I believed to be a permanent weight loss solution.  Sure complications are SAID to be rare. Doesn't help me and it won't help you if you happen to be one of them.
