On the path
Jan 07, 2010
So I had my seminar yesterday! It was awesome.
I could not have been happier..... well maybe if my waitlist number was below triple digits.hehehe 124. So all that means is it will be about 4-5 months before I can start Madigians Pathway program. A lot of people were upset, but it honesty it doenst really bother me. I did not get this large over night, just becase I have decided I want WLS doesnt mean it should happen over night. I want to equip myself with all the right tools to succeed. So I am hoping for a birthday surgery. That would be July 14th .... I dont think that that is too far fetched.
On another positive note. I talked to te surgeon about me losing weight before hand. I am borderline insurance acceptable but I feel like crap. I had stopped eating healthy so I didnt fall below the line of "Heavy enough". He said he would not penalize me for loosing weight. So I can loose and he will still operate. And he does not have BMI restrictions for the DS.
And get this he HATES to place a band as he sees so much failure with it. He told me after the seminar that the only reason that it is still around is because it is soo CHEAP.
I really can't wait to get into the pathway i know it could be 5 months then another 2 to get through it then another month before surgery but 8 months isnt that long. And to me this time next year I will be sitting on the losers bench, or better yet running with my weightloss.
So I am praying for some patiences and flexibility.

Day One
Nov 24, 2009
Well I got my PCM to send in a referal to see Dr. OH Step one complete.
I also got a taste of what I am goingt o have to deal with, with Tricare. Blah.
Actually its Madigan Army Hospital I have a problem with so yeah I am doing everything in my power to NOT have to go there.
My dr.. Dr Linh is Wonderful. She is fully supportive and thinks I will make a great canidiate for the Lap Band surgery. i fully agree I have done my research and that seems awesome. I also wouldnt mind having the Lap RNY but the Band would be a great starter. I called Dr. Oh's office to set up a consultation and I have to go to the seminar first even though I did the online seminar. Scheduled it for monday . Check. From there the office told me to double check with tricare because they have had a few authorizations returned because Madigan is claiming they have all rights to any tricare patients. I called Madigan. RUDE rude RUDE. I spoke to a man named Gary in general surgery. He told me they would NEVER refer tricare prime patients off post. He explained the procedure and said the waiting list is LONG like months long, like could b a year long. Defeated I called tricare back to review my options. *light bulb* tricare standard, more choices more options YAY. I called Madigan back spoke to the same rude man. (talked down to me to the point of tears) He said Tricare Standard has an even less priority and there was NO WAY they would refer them off post. So the waiting list would be even LONGER. AHHHHHHH almost crying now. I called Triwest back. So helpful I loved te ladies at the benifits dept. Tricare Stadard gets to pick their own provider... *crosses fingers* I called Gary back just to verify.... again rude, and sends me a number that doesnt work. i call back and he gives me a number to a lady named brenda in claims at madigan. She was new and transfered me to karen who calls me back five minutes later who told me no problem that the my PCM refers me to a surgeon it never goes to madigan... yadda yadda yadda. I have her name so hopefully that is right because I switched to standard and am Looking to having to pay 1,000 out of pocket which to me is worth it 4 week wait vs a 4 month wait :D
so fingers crossed. And lets see how monday goes.
