It's been a while OH. So here's whats happened since I last posted in July.

My surgery was canceled 3 days before it was supposed to happen!!  Why? I found at that I had Graves disease at the last moment and surgery would have been a huge risk to my life. I was sooo mad, sad and just full of emotions. After having a week long pity party for myself, I went to a specialist and started taking meds to get my thyroid under control. About 3 weeks later, I found myself in the ER having an allergic reaction to the thyroid meds!!! I had to start a new med for my thyroid, plus steroids to help with the allergic reaction. Then, I got the flu a few days later!!!!

And just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, THEY DID. I went to the doctor for a follow up visit and OMG, I had gained 25 pounds in 4 weeks .  Those steroids!!!  But the thyroid meds had done their job and my thyroid levels were back in normal range

So fast forward to 11/12/2012, and I have a new surgery date: November 26, 2012 7am!!!

 

So I told him today.... and it went exactly as I expected. He said: Why?, Just work out, Why?.... exits room! Cant say it didnt go how I expected, we'll talk more about it when he comes back!- he's taking a moment to discuss it with himself!! lol

21 Days before surgery, It seems so far away. I have my overnight bag packed, pantry stocked, cigarette- free for 3 days!, I am so ready. This will be the longest 21 days of my life.

My surgeon's office called me today, I thought they were only calling to tell me my appointment time for my pre-op testing- they did, then she laid the bomb on me and told me that my surgery has been moved from 7/9/2012 to 7/18/2012!!!! She claims that there was ascheduling error. I know it's a just a week later, but I just felt that I was soooo close. oh well- the bright side is that this gives me longer to tell my ol man..

So my vsg surgery date has been approved and scheduled for 7/9/2012.  I've done everything to prepare and cant wait, only problem is.... I HAVEN'T TOLD MY FIANCE (Mr. Difficult) . I know I'm gonna have to tell him sooner or later, but I don't quite know how. I know how he feels about wls (he thinks of it as something  people who r too lazy to workout do) and I just dint know how to get the conversation started nor do I feel like having to once again justify why I have made this decision. It's not something that I just decided to up and do one day.... If anyone can tell me how they told the "Difficults" in their lives that they were having vsg, please, please, help me. What did u do? What did u say? How did u say it?

Today was one of the best days I've had in a while. My insurance has approved my surgery- even though my pcp didnt write a support letter!!!- I am scheduled for 7/09/2012. I'm so ready for this. Over the next week or 2, I'll be doing my pre-admission testing, venous doppler testing, getting my final protein shakes, clear liquids, etc.
