This journey started over 20 years ago with beginning research.  At that time I was 29, just had a histerectomy, had 3 kids under 10 and divorced.  Because of those situations, I was unable to even think about surgery.  Most of my life I have been overweight; gaining after each child and not losing it.  Being divorced and little income, we ate what was cheap and that did not mean the best choices.

Some of my present medical problems include diabeties, high blood pressure, degenitive disc disease, both knees need to be replaced from a fall in 2003 (have had surgery on both), 2 herniated disc in lower back, arthritis in my spine, hands, knees and hips, eye problems (has laser treatmens in both eyes for bleeders), sleep apnea, but so far my heart is good.

Approximtely a year ago I started to take Lantis for my diabeties and put on approximately 50 lbs under 2 months.  That did it.  I called to see about going to an orientation and than I went to the docs office and obtained the list of pre-op tests to be completed.  During this time I also have an 84 yr old father (who has COPD, sever arthritis in back, hands, knees, hips and shoulders and diabeties) to take care of and a significant other with diabeties and a heart condition.  Since the beginning of 2007 my father has been hospitalized 3 times.  So, getting all my pre-ops done has been a challange and I work 40 hrs a week.

I get my last paperwork on 051707 and turn it in on 052107.  Wish me luck.
