2 years Plus a Baby later
Sep 01, 2010
I am very thankful for my beautiful daughter, born November 3, 2009. I am happy to report that I have lost all the pregnancy weight and am back to my previous lowest adult weight of 194 lbs. I have returned to doing Cardio and Weightlifting and am attempting to lose that last 45 lbs. in the next 9 mos, provided I do not achieve another pregnancy.
The pregnancy went well, though she was small during gestation, she now has compensated and has been in the 90%+ since 4 mos. old. She had a skinny umbilical cord, which may have been from the very low caloric intake for the year preceding the begining of the pregnancy. This time I am keeping my calories 1200+ vice 800 - 1000 and just increasing my cardio to compensate. Proportionately I am bigger around my stomach at this weight than before the pregnancy.
Hope to post one success or the other in the next 9 mos.

1 Year Surgiversary!
Mar 12, 2009
My stats for the Gastric Sleeve at 12 Mo. out:
Surgery Day: 273 lbs.
12 Month Post-Op: 194 lbs.
Total lost since surgery: 79 lbs!
Inches Lost:
Chest: -7.25"
Waist: -9"
Hips: -14"
Dress Size: from a 28 to 16's.
I am having the most wonderful surgiversary: I have achieved the reason for the WLS - I am expecting!
I am now forcing myself to eat ~ 2200 calories a day, and it is a real chore! Every 3 hours I am eating protein & carbs. And drinking ~ 100 oz. water every day. My surgeon considers my weight loss a success, and so do I. But now I will have to wait to finish losing that last 45 lbs. for another 9 months! And I couldn't be happier to say that!
Good Luck to you all! Happy Surgiversary to all my fellow March 5 sleeve sisters.

My stats for the Gastric Sleeve at 11 Mo. out:
Surgery Day: 273 lbs.
11 Month Post-Op: 194 lbs.
Total lost since surgery: 79 lbs!
Inches Lost:
Chest: -7.25"
Waist: -9"
Hips: -14"
Dress Size: from a 28 to 16's.
I can eat approximately 4 - 6 ounces of food at a time. I am eating approximately 1200 - 1400 calories/day. Although I really bumped up salt & over-all caloric intake due to a fainting episode a few weeks ago. My Blood pressure and blood sugar have been low, so we have been trying to address this with diet first. I am also trying to get all my protein in from eating food, vice the protein shakes. It is unbelievable to hear myself protest so vehemently to my doctor that I could not possibly eat all that food -that it is just too much food! To think that at one time I would have laughed profusely had I heard anyone tell me I would one day in the future ever make such a statement!
I also had my metabolism retested - and there is good news! I have raised it from about a negative 27 to a negative 14! That about 145 calories more a day! I hope it is from all that weight lifting, but it probably is from the synthroid more than not.
I am still using Nioxin for the hair loss issue, and I am still taking Biotin for new hair growth.
NSV's: I got off my Insulin Resistance medication! Yea, no more glucophage for me! Now, my blood sugar has been so low that I feel faint at times! And the pendulum swings...

My stats for the Gastric Sleeve at 10 Mo. out:
Surgery Day: 273 lbs.
10 Month Post-Op: 195 lbs.
Total lost since surgery: 78 lbs!
Inches Lost:
Chest: -7.25"
Waist: -8.5"
Hips: -13.5"
Dress Size: from a 28 to 16's.
I can eat approximately 4 - 6 ounces of food at a time. I am eating approximately 1200 calories/day.
I am still using Nioxin for the hair loss issue, and I am still taking Biotin for new hair growth, and it is noticeable with short hairs cropping up and sticking out all over my scalp!
NSV's: I bought my first regular (non-Women's) shirt last week! I was so excited to get into it that I bought it even though it wasn't on sale! I am excited to have lost more inches this past month than pounds - 1" in my thighs, and I am starting to really feel more "normal" than "obese" even though I am still technically obese. It could be the psychological boost from knowing I can shop in the regular sizes now, vice the plus sizes. I also bought some really pretty bras, and that is giving me the feeling of being "sexy" and that hasn't been a feeling in my vocabulary for about a decade! The last time I weighed this weight I was in High School! Wow! Almost 20 years ago...

NSV's: I am in the teens in clothing sizes!!! Yeahhh!! I hit my milestone of losing over 100+ lbs. from my highest weight! I hit the milestone of crossing over from severely obese to just obese!! I am sooo close to teh 100's on the scale... I went on vacation (WDW) and walked about 12.5 miles/day on several days. While my feet and legs did still hurt, I had a very noticeable increase in my stamina levels from my last vacation 2 years ago that required a lot of walking (NYC). Not only did the plane seat belt fit, I tightened it with extra belt hanging loose. I was unafraid to ride the rides, and the harnesses were not a problem at all! It was amazing to get lifted off my seat - it made me feel so light! I could walk straight through the turnstiles without having to turn to the side. I left almost all of my meals on the plate to be thrown away, and even though I still felt guilty for wasting food, I did not stuff myself as a result! I am very proud of me!

Total lost since surgery: 53 lbs!
Inches Lost:
Chest: -7"
Waist: -8"
Hips: -10"
Dress Size: from a 28 to 20's.
I can still eat approximately 4 ounces of food at a time, and am still doing great getting in my protein and water, and keeping my fat and sugars low. I am trying to up my calories to 850 - 1000 to see if that helps my metabolism get motivated.
I had a needle biopsy to check the nodule on my Thyroid out; it was benign! Whew! I am adding thyroid medication to help get my hormones back in balance, as well as testing for adrenal deficiency.
I just had an Ovarian Cystectomy yesterday, so no weight training for 6 weeks! Scary! I am hoping this doesn't put me too far behind on my weight loss schedule. I will be doing a lot of Cardio, though, in a couple of weeks!
I also just started Nioxin for the hair loss issue. It does seem to make a difference in the appearance, but it still seems like a lot of hair is falling out. It has been only 1 week since I started, and it is supposed to take 2 weeks before you start noticing a difference.
NSV's: I am now able to fit in really much better looking clothes, since I can shop at more stores. I can see collarbones and shoulder definition and that is really sexy! I can feel my muscles as the fat is melting away, especially on my upper body. Men have been checking me out; shhh, we won't tell my husband! LOL!

I do have a nodule on my thyroid, and my labs for T4 were borderline low. I am having a needle biopsy next week to check the nodule out. I am trying to raise my metabolism by starting back on Fortamet and taking extra supplements. I am doing both Cardio and Strength Training exercises to build muscle. I did get a Wii a couple of weeks ago, and that is helping to keep me moving every day; I am really enjoying it. And my Wii Fit Age just keeps getting better and younger! Yay! I am now smaller than I was a decade ago, when I met my husband. Really cool feeling.
