Growing up, I wasn't a "fat kid". I was what you would consider "average" weight all through school. Things changed when I was 24 years old and I got an infection in one of my wisdom teeth. The infection got into my blood stream and ended up causing me to have extreme arthritis on the entire left side of my body. I was tested for everything from lyme disease to gout, and was finally diagnosed with severe arthritis. Who knew you could get that from a simple tooth infection? Anyhoo, that's when things went south for me as far as my weight goes. I had a hard time standing up for any length of time, so I resorted to eating a lot of junk food and easy to make food, i.e. lots of carbs. The weight piled on pretty quickly and by the time my wedding came around when I was 26 I had gone from a size 9 to a size 18. I was horrified! Luckily I met a terrific man that fell in love with me during my heaviest and has since blessed me with two wonderful children.
My goal now is to get back to my "skinny" days and regain all of that energy that I have since lost. I have a 3 and a half year old son and a 4 month old daughter (as of August), and I want to be able to give them a mom that can keep up with them and give them the memories that they deserve. I have gone almost ten years being heavy and I'm over it. I don't want to be addicted to food any more.
I'm really happy to be on this site and read everyone's success stories. My favorite part is looking at the "Before and After" pictures on the home page. They are so inspiring!
God Bless you all and I look forward to sharing the journey!
