My story ( short version)
Mar 31, 2007
Well, I am 61 years old and have been obese for more than 40 yrs. I have missed out on alot because of my weight. It's time that I stopped sitting on the sideline and get serious about my life. I want to live for a long time and I know that I won't if I don't take control. I have been going through the process for more than a year and finally MY day has come. April 3rd is my surgery date. I cannot wait.
I have three biological children and nine step children, all of whom are grown. We have two adopted children, 16 and 18. Between my husband and I we have 18 grand children.
When I had my first child I gained 70 lbs during pregnancy. I never lost that weight and gained more weight with my next 2. I have been on every diet in the book but I think the least I have weighed in the past 40 years was about 180 pounds. That was alot of weight for me. I am only 4'11". Now I weigh 280 and I am discusted. After Tuesday I can start a whole new outlook on life. I may even see my great grandchildren before I go. (Heck, I may even see my feet). I have spent my whole life hiding and being depressed. Well I'm done with that chapter. Time to turn the page. I will keep you all posted on how my recovery is going. Thanks to everybody for all the support I have been getting. You are all great... Jonana
