My story is simple and same old story I am sure everyone hears. I am 31 years old and the mother of a beautiful 3 1/2 year old and the wife of a fabulous suporting husband. I want to be here for both of them and for my loving supporting family for a really long time. I have been heavy most of my life I had already tried any commercial diet out there and was tired of it. I went to see Dr Kemmerling in March 2005 and I listened to what he had to say and I left without even meeting him one on one. I was scared out of my mind. I hadn't researched enough about the procedure and just knew it wasn't right for me to stay there. So as the year went on I researched more and have a very close friend that had it done and talked with her often and saw her success. Christmas of 2005 came and I weighed in at 326 lbs. the heaviest I have ever been in my life that is when I knew I had to do something. I thought I will try diet and exercise on my own like I had before, who was I kidding it didn't work then and sure wasn't going to work now. So finally in August 2006 I started my supervised weightloss with Dr Kemmerling for my insurance approval. We submitted to insurance at month 4 so of course I was going to be denied as I knew I needed 6 months supervised loss however we thought hey why not we will try it. So then I proceeded to do the loss and then resubmitted to insurance and w/in 30 days of submitting I was approved for the change of my life! At this point I was 310 lbs. My surgery date was set for 4/18/07. I was on liquids one week before and it was the hardest week of my life, I just wanted a block of cheese! The day of surgery I was a nervous wreck in the morning and cried right until they knocked me out. Next thing I knew I was in the recovery room waking up - pain was only about a 2 the whole time but just annoying. I had a morphine clicker so that was all good except that made me soooo tired. Anyway, today as I write this I am 5 days post op and so far so good. Being down 20 lbs since the liquids stage is wonderful. I just now cannot wait to start exercising and starting my new life.
