not such a good week

Aug 16, 2012

Well this has not been such a good week. Work is so stressful right now and my son's birthday and the anniversary of his death is coming up. I have been falling back into some of my old eating habits and making poor choices. I made potato salad and ate some two days in a row. Realized if I didn't throw it away, I would eventually eat the whole thing. So in the trash it went. Never should have made it in the first place.  This week at work I have eaten, two Oreo cookies, two mini cinnamon treats and a cowboy burger and french fries from Applebees. Mind you it was only 1/4 of the patty (no bread) and about 5 fries but still, this is my old coping behavior. NOT GOOD...... I have to get a grip on this.  Sigh, stress is my worst enemy. GOT TO GET A GRIP!

Less than a year ago I would walk pass Victoria Secret to go shopping at Lane Bryant. Not anymore baby! Woo hoo!!  I am so thankful for the opportunity to have been able to have this surgery. tI was not an easy road by far, but so worth it...

Goal reached

Jul 28, 2012

Well I am now 8 months post op. Wow, I can not believe how far I have come. I have lost 100lbs and reached my goal weight of 165lbs. At  5'10"  this feels like a pretty good weight. Actually I am below my goal weight at 161 and that's OK with me. From what I understand we all gain some weight back beginning around the 12 month time. That scares the begebees out of me. I have not had any major complications after my surgery. Brief bout of hypoglycemia and if I don't get enough hydration my blood pressure bottoms out and I feel pretty crappy, but I think that is the same with anyone. When I first started this journey I must say I wondered if I had made a mistake. I felt so bad.... But my doctor said it would get better, and it did! Slowly but surely my new stomach started to accept liquids, then foods, then the vitamins it needed and now I am able to get it all in with out a problem. My life has changed. I feel like my old self again. The me before I gained all that weight. This surgery truly was a blessing for me.....

4 months post op

Mar 27, 2012

well i am 4 months post op now. I got on the scale this morning and it read 195.8. I had to get on twice to believe it. Yesterday i was 200.8lbs. I spenthe t all of yesterday throwing up any solids i put in my new stomach. Gastritis i think. So i have been out of work for two days. Taking carafate religiously. No throwing up today, just dealing with dehydration. The weather has been beautiful and my windows are open. The one thing that really suprised me about this journey is the way some of my friends have reacted. The ones I thought would be most supportive, are the least. I chalk it up to them being unhappy about their own life and i am an easy target. Hopefully they will be out of my life soon and i will begin my new journey into the future.Toxic unhealthy people no longer have a place in my life. I am a good person and deserve better!

Almost 3 months out

Feb 17, 2012

Well I am almost 3 months post op. I have returned to the real world. Back to work. Boo! This has been a really difficult transition back into the work world. That is where my main stressor is, not to mention all the food aromas that assaulted my senses at first. It mad me sooo hungry at first. I have grown acustom to it now. Its very difficult to get in all my food, nutrition and hydration while working. One thing I have done is started walking daily at lunch. I walk a mile 5 days a week and its really nice. The protein drinks still make me sick to my stomach but i am trying. I have an appt with the nutritionist and my new surgeon on the 23rd. I hope he is as nice as my old one.

5 weeks

Dec 25, 2011

I have completed 5 weeks post op. Now starting on week six. Thank goodness I think the worst is behind me. Hit a brick wall at week 3 and thought I was going to die. My surgeon said it would pass, and it did!  I am starting to appreciate the weight loss now instead of wondering what the heck I had done to myself.    My goal now is to get all my vitamins and calcium in daily. They still cause a little stomach irritation.
