Well they came in that morning with 2 little medicine cups . One with broth and one with this slushy looking lemonade. I couldnt believe that this was gonna fill me up. I drank the broth but it was yucky. the slushy stuff tasted good and I got it down and felt full. God its a miracle. Me that could go to wendys and eat a double cheeseburger fries and coke was full on a tiny little cup of liquid. How awesome is that? That afternoon at 300 I was discharged and we drove 4.5 hours back to the house. Before I left hospital they gave me some liquid loritab and I chewed a Phenegran pill for nausea but I never had a problem the whole ride home.   The whole week for the next 7 days I could only have broth, sugar free popcicles, sugar free jello and those liquid protein shots.  I was fine though and today I started phase 2 liquids which is cream of chicken soup, yogart  cottage cheese Ptotein mised with milk. So we will see how this 7 days go and oh yes I have already lost 16 lbs in 8 days. Thats unbelievable. God I love my new tummy..       

I GOT TO THE HOSPITAL AT 1200. THEY GOT ME IN A ROOM AND STARTED MY IV. tHEN THEY CAME IN AND GAVE ME THE HEPERIN SHIOT IN MY STOMACHE. THATS TO KEEP YOU FROM GETTING CLOTS. I THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA HURT BUT I DIDNT EVEN FEEL IT. THEN I WAITED. IT FELT LIKE AN ETERNITY. FINALLY AT 300 THEY CAME AND TOOK ME TO THE SURGERY WAITUING AREA. THE ANESTESIOLGIST CAME IN AND TALKED TO ME. I WAS OF COURSE A NERVOUS WRECK. THEN MY DOC CAME IN AND SAID HELLO. WHILE I WAS WAITING I LIOOKED ON THE WALL IN THE OTHER ROOM AND SAW 6 NAMES UP THERE OF PEOPLE MY DOC HAD PERFORMED SURGERY ON THAT DAY BEFORE ME AND ALL OF THEM HAD SLEEVE BESIDE THEM. AND UNDER THAT THEY HAD 7 MORE NAMES OF PEOPLE HAVING SURGERY ON THE 4TH , ALL OF THEM SLEEVES. MY DOC DOES LAP BAND AND RNY ALSO. IT JUST MADE ME FEEL SO RELIEVED KNOWING I WASNT ALONE. ALL THESE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME THING I AM. THEN THE ANEST" CAME IN AND SAID HE WAS GIVING ME A LITTLE SOMETHING IN MY IV TO RELAX ME AND THE REST IS HISTORY. NEXT THING I KNEW THEY WERE WAKING ME UP AND TAKING ME BACK TO MY ROOM.  I SLEPT TILL AROUND 8 THEN AT 9:30 I GOT UP AND WALKED. IT REALLY WASNT THAT BAD.

God I was so scared to have this surgery. I was a nervous wreck. I arrived in Gonzales La on dec 1 . I had to be at the hospital at  9 :00 for my pre op tests. First I went back and they drew my blood. Second I went to X ray and they did an upper Gi Where you drink the chalky stuff and they take pictures of your tummy. Next I went for an ekg, lung Xray . Then I went and talked to a Nutritionist. Next I went to the doctor who just took blood pressure felt around on my stomache listened to heart. Then I went and blew air in this little contraption so they could check oxygen level. Then I went to my doctor and paid him for the surgery and thatsd about it. Oh yeah I didnt have a long preop diet, Just had to drink all liquids the day before m,y surgery.     The next day we went shopping and to the casino in Baton Rouge , basically killing time because my surgery wasnt untill the next day.                                                                                         

HI MY NAME IS JOAN. I AM 44 YEARS YOUNG A MOTHER OF 2 GROWN CHILDREN AND ONE GRANDAUGHTER WHO IS MY HEART. I HAVE BEEN OVERWEIGHT MY WHOLE LIFE BUT ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO IT WENT SPIRALLING OUT OF CONTROL. AND HERE I SIT WITH A BMI OF 52. I DONT KNOW HOW TO CHANGE IT IN THE BOX SO BE IT . I KNOW EVERYDAY LIOFE IS PASSING ME BY AND I AM READY TO START BEING A PART OF IT AGAIN. MY MOM AND DAD DIED OF CANCER IN THEIR EARLY 50S SO I KNOW WERE NOT HERE FOR LONG. SO WHY LIVE MISERABLY WHEN I HAVE THE MEANS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.SO I HAVE MADE MY DECISION AFTER 7 OR 8 MONTHS NOW OF RESEARCHING AND TALKING TO OTHERS TO HAVE THE SLEEVE SURGERY. I HAD MY CONSULTATION NOV 18 WITH DR HARGRODER IN BATON ROUGE LA. AND ON DEC 3 I WILL TAKE BACK MY LIFE AGAIN. THANK YOU OBESITY MEMBERS FOR HELPING ME IN MY LIFE CHOICE. TAKE CARE  JOAN
