Update on the Pouch Test
Mar 19, 2008
I ended up going back to my food journal for a week, and getting rid of the crumy sugars and carbs that had invaded my house. And low and behold it worked! (Shock and surprise!) So here's to doing what Dr. P told me to do in the first place! The woman knows her stuff.
5 Day Pouch Test
Mar 09, 2008
Well I've decided to try the 5-day pouch test. I've made some bad decisions about sugars lately and I just need to stop. I think the best way to stop is to regulate my food intake really carefully for a week to get off of the sugars and carbs - I can't just "have a little" and get on.
I'm not good talking about long term changes - I can do them I just can't think about it :) I know, doesn't make sense. The appeal of this is the fact that I know I can do a 5-day change.
The Easter candy has been removed from the house and will not re-enter. I've put my husband on Peep duty - find and destroy all marshmallow peeps. Why do I like these things?!!
My surgery was last July, and I'm still losing weight (2-3lbs or so each week) but I know how much better I could be doing. I exercise 5 days a week - "bursting" 45 minutes on the elliptical or arch trainer and two days of weights with a trainer. It is the only reason I don't regain weight.
My husband is in the final stages of getting his surgery date - hopefully in the next week. I see the optimism in him that I had prior to my surgery and I need to cut out this mess and get back on track.
So here we go...
6 weeks post op
Sep 11, 2007
The post op appointment was great. I am at 17% loss of my total excess weight. Normal range is 10-15%. I feel great and I owe it to sticking to the program and a wonderful surgeon!!
I uploaded pictures to my site for the first time and I don't really recognize myself. I've let so few pictures be taken since our wedding and I know why - I didn't want to face my weight. I need to get a 6-week post op picture because I am looking great!!
