STILL Waiting....

So, here I sit, still waiting! I e-mailed the doctor's office yesterday and asked why my paperwork has not been submitted to TriCare yet and was told that my insurance was just now verified, my information had not been put in to their computer yet, and after it has, then my papers will be submitted to the insurance company! How long can it possibly take to call, what 40 people's companies, and verify that they have insurance and enter their info into the computer. I could do that in a day or two, seeing as how that is the one person's job. He has just completed that stuff from 2 weeks ago. In two weeks time, I could have done it 5 times by now. I can't believe this. I am so frustrated!! I do home daycare and have been watching only one baby because I knew that I was going to have this surgery soon. I don't want to add to my daycare, because I don't want to have to find back up care, which is very hard to do around here, for another kid, if I don't have to, so they are costing me MONEY!!! Really this is making me really angry. The girl at the office thet does the insurance papers says she will let me know when it has been submitted. I just don't understand why I can't see the doc now since I have already been approved for 4 office visits. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!! If I haven't heard anything by Friday, I am going to find someone else to talk to at that office that can get things done. Evidently these people don't realize how important this is to us overweight people. I know I can not be the only one going through this with them!

I am so tired of waiting to hear from Tricare and it has only been 3 business days since my stuff was submitted. I was told that my paperwork would be submitted to them on Friday and it is only Tuesday and I am already tired of waiting. I know, whine, whine, but jeez, I don't really get why I have to wait to have a surgery approval, before I ever have a consult with the Dr, which I already have approval for. Kind of strange to me.
UPDATE
So, now I know that my papewok has not really been submitted to Tricare at all yet and evidently won't be for quite a while...
WLS Seminar

So, I've attended my "mandatory" seminar. I know it is just one more step to get me closer to having my surgery so I won't grumble about it. I did not learn anything that I didn't already know from all of hours of research, but it was good to be in a room with a bunch of people just like me. I don't think all of them are serious about having the surgery, but hey they were there at least, so I guess that gives them a little credit! I turned in my paperwork and the next step is to receive approval from the insurance company. I already have an approval to see the surgeon, so they think that obtaining an approval for the surgery will pretty easy. YAY. The bad part is, they said it could be at least 2 months before we (the folks in the class) would likely be going in to surgery. 2 freaking months. I hope that is a wide estimate because I am ready! I know though that it may take a while to get all of my pre-op appointments scheduled and done. Hopefully I will know something soon....

So, I have received my first approval. I think this is just an approval to see the surgeon. I am scheduled to attend his mandatory seminar going over the options and it will be my first physical contact with his office. I have filled out the info packet and will leave that with them at the seminar and at that time they request approval from the insurance company for the surgery and then they set me up for the pre surgery visits with the nutritionist, psychologist and whatever else they say I have to do. Hopefully the next approval will go as smoothly.
Day 1 of this process

So, today is Friday the 13th. It has been a pretty good day for me thus far. I went to see my Dr. today and we discussed my having WLS. He agrees with me that I am an excellent candidate for it and is writing me a referral for it. He is certain that we can get Tricare to pay for it with no problem. I have to say I am a little worried seeing as how I have not been diagnosed with anything other than a qualifying BMI and two high BP's on my last two checkups. I do have several factors that should make it a done deal since I am redisposed because of my genes. I do have a high potential of having diabetes (I had gestational 3 years ago) and my folks have it along with high BP and choleserol. We'll see and then I will update as soon as I know....Wish me luck!!!
