Two weeks and counting!!!

Two short weeks before the big day. The last time I did this much 'nesting' was when I was pregnant with my son! It has been nice having several weeks to prepare as I am now fully stocked with protein samples. I do have one last Costo trip to make to stock up on household needs but other than that, I believe I am nearly ready. I go in for my final preop appointment this week and I have my list of questions that I have been keeping. DH is going to go with me which is exciting as he hasn't yet met the Doctor I have chosen. Unfortunately, when he came to the support group last month, the Dr was out of town.

Yes, I have continued to stay in hiding this week, just slogging through the days until today!!! I found out on Monday that UHC denied my claim stating that I needed a 5 year history. I was devastated!
I had checked with HR/UHC before I began this process back in May to confirm that this was NOT required. I promptly picked up the phone to my HR contact who was a fellow RNYer (who knew!) and she contacted UHC who corrected the denial, and called my Dr's this AM with an APPROVED status!!!
I am holding for confirmation for either the 28th or the 30th of October!!!
I cannot believe it! What a wild ride.....

So I have now completed all of my preop requirements this included:
- Bloodwork via my PCP
- Additional bloodwork via surgeon
- Stress Test
- Gallbladder Scan
- Psych clearance
- Pulmonologist workup
- Sleep Study (x2) because I couldn't sleep at the first one
- Surgeon required weight loss
Whew! All is done and now I am waiting to hear from the insurance company. I am really hoping to hear soon. The waiting is so hard for me. I am just a spaz that way. I find little solace in being patient.
My family continues to be supportive. My mom and dad are coming to stay with me and my husband and son after surgery to help out and take care of my "boys." They were both so great about it and have continued to support me through all of this.
I have also been going to the support group through my surgeon's office for the past several months. My husband came with me last week. It meant the world to me that he came. I think it also helped him to really understand that this is really happening!

I am scheduled to meet with my surgeon on the 14th of July. I can hardly wait... I have already been to my PCP who has agreed to support me through this journey. Today was supposed to be the seminar at the surgeon's office where my husband and I could get more information, but the Dr. was called into surgery... (((ARGH))) I guess I was just really excecited to go knowing it would mean just one more small step in the direction I want to go...
