04/06/08-- It's been a LONG time since I updated. Just wanted to mention that I now have a daughter who will be 11 months old tomorrow. Before I got pregnant, I had gained some weight when I switched to a more sedentary job and also when I quit smoking. I think I was about 130 lbs or so when I became pregnant. Throughout my pregnancy, I gained approximately 30 lbs. After the baby, I lost some weight, but have since put some back on. I have been struggling with depression, and I weigh approximately 155 lbs. I feel a bit too heavy at this weight and would like to get back down to 125 or 130. It's harder to lose weight now. I slipped back into some old, bad eating habits. Too many sweets and snacks. I'm sure my pouch has been stretched a bit, but I certainly can not eat as much as most people.
Back to the pregnancy...I gave birth to a healthy 5 lb 12 oz baby girl. She was supposed to be 38 weeks old at delivery, but the pediatrician said she looked more like 36 1/2 weeks upon examination after birth. I did have to have frequent ultra sounds because I am an older mom and also because their was a possibility that the baby wasn't growing enough. The suspicion of a growth problem did not surface until after I had been in a car accident at 27 wks pregnant. I think that may have been the source of the problem but am not sure. Luckily, the baby was born healthy and strong.
