I never made a conscious effort to become obese. I was a normal (or so I thought) child and active in high school sports. I remember weighing 131 or 133 pounds in 8th grade and probably was the biggest girl in my class, yet I think I was also the tallest. In high school I was between 155 and 165 and think I was about 165 when I graduated. I was a teen mother and gained about 50 pounds when I was pregnant. That seemed to be my downfall. I remember being under 200 for a while in the my 20s, but that is a distant memory. I've been on many "diets" each one proving successful to a point - losing some amount of weight. Although in the end, I reverted back to my old habits and gained back more than I had lost. I was successful in 2009 losing about 65 pounds, but in the end gained back 80. This put me at my highest weight EVER, weighing in at almost 320 pounds! This is when it really hit me that I needed some medical intervention. I need help to change my lifestyle [eating and exercising habits] to get me back to a weight where I can become more mobile again. I want to live a healthy life and be around for my husband, children, and grandchildren!
