I am scheduled to have VSG on 9/24. I have tried for about 10 years to find a way through insurance to have WLS to no avail.
In April one of my friends husband was diagnosed with stage 4 matastisized testicular cancer at the young age of 33. I moved into their home and cared for thier animals while they were at the hospital fighting for a month. He decided in May to go into hospice care and come home for the final stage of his short life. I stayed at their home and helped care for him (and her actually). At some point during the weeks that followed they decided that they wanted to give me this gift, a gift of life as far as I am concerned, in appreciation for helping and caring for them through the end of his life. Steve passed away in July. Before he passed I promised him I would honor this gift and live the best life I could. Doing, seeing, experiencing all the things that would not have been possible with out their gift.
So here I am 3 days pre-op ready to take this tool and become the best me possible. All done with love. It is the most important part of us.
