Ok well here it goes! I am a Gastric Bypass patient. I am 6 weeks out. For my 1 month follow up I lost 20 pounds. At my pre op appointment I weight 266 pounds. At my 1 week post op appt. I weight 246 pounds. When I went for my 1 month and found out I only lost 20 pounds total I was a little upset. I thought that since I had lost 18 in the first week I would have at least lost 30 pounds. But I forgot that alot of the first 18 pounds was fluid and once I started eating FOOD I gained some back but then lost some too. I feel great! I have had so many mixed feelings in all of this but in the long run I am looking at the whole thing. I am a 30 year old single women, well not single I am with the man of my dreams, but not married. I have been told for years because of my Diabetes & my PCOS that I would never be able to have children, but last July of 08' I got pregnant and within 5 days my life had another turn around. I had a miscarriage/DNC, but that was my WAKE UP call to say get your a*# in gear and take care of yourself. I have always wanted children, and if Gastric Bypass will help get my, total 250 units of insulin a day, then so be it. Well here I am now only taking 40 units of Lantus in the a.m.,35 units of Lantus in the p.m. and on a floating scale with my Novalog. Then I am on the right path and that makes me excited to see what lies ahead for me!!!!!!!
