bandster hell

Mar 20, 2009

Well....it happened.  I hit bandster hell.  I weighed this morning and I'm up 1lb since last week.  I know it could have been much worse, but I've worked hard all week and was hoping to see the scale go down, NOT up.  Oh well, I'll keep on keepin' on and I'll get there eventually.  So since surgery I'm down a total of 8.4lbs.

weight loss in a week!!!

Mar 14, 2009

I got on the scale this morning to see just how much (if any) I had lost in this past week.  Well.....I am down.....9.4lbs!!!!!  That's just for the week since I got the band.  For the 2 weeks pre-op diet, I had already lost 6lbs.  So total I'm down 15.4lbs!!!!  I'm so excited that I could just scream!!!

I've been hearing about bandster hell and I'm hoping I won't go through that.  I hope that I'll just keep losing and losing up until to my first fill and then keep going from there.

surgery done and feeling pretty good

Mar 08, 2009

I'm now a few days post-op and feeling pretty good.  The first night was the worst and then yesterday I was pretty out of it, but today I'm starting to feel better.  The gas pains are starting to subside and I don't have this pulling sensation around my incisions that I had yesterday.

For anyone who is thinking about having this surgery I want to tell you to do it!  I don't regret it at all.  It took me just over a year from start to finish and it was all well worth it.  I know it will be even more worth it when I start losing more and more weight.

change of surgery date!!!

Mar 02, 2009

I am SO, SO excited!!!  I got a call from Kelley at Dr. Woodman's office this morning.  She told me she was going to have to reschedule me because something came up the week I was supposed to have surgery.  I was a little bummed, but then she says, "how's March 6th?"  I was SHOCKED.  I of course accepted the earlier date.  I asked her about the 13lbs (I'm down 7.5 right now) and she asked how many I'd lost already.  I told her and she said I should be just fine with that.

So now I'll be having surgery in just FOUR DAYS!!!!!

13 days to go!!!

Feb 26, 2009

I've got just 13 more days before my new life begins.  I'm so excited I can't wait.  I'm working on getting that 13lbs off and so far so good.  I'm down a total of 5 as of this morning so I'm right on track.

A friend of mine who had lapband surgery a while back gave me the rest of her pre-op diet shakes and I started using that yesterday.  So far it's not been too bad.  The shakes taste pretty good, but I'm really tired.  I can handle it for 2 weeks though.

Everything else is going good.  I'm not nervous or anything about the surgery.  My family is all pitching in to help so it's all good.

got my surgery date!!!!

Feb 17, 2009

I went to my pre-op appt yesterday. Everything went well. My opinion of Dr Woodman hasn't changed. He still seems to really care about his patients. He's a very straight shooting guy and tells it like it is, but that's what I like about him.

So the good news is that my surgery is March 11th!!! That's just a little more than 3 weeks!!! The not so good news is that I have to lose 13lbs in 3 weeks. Ah!!!! If I don't, my surgery will be cancelled.

I can do it though, I know I can.  I just have to stay committed and get all my exercise and water in.  It'll happen, I know it will.

Well now I gotta get busy.

just had my scope yesterday and got my pre op appt already!!!

Feb 13, 2009

I went for my EGD scope yesterday. It went really well. I met Dr Woodman. He seemed pretty nice to me. I didn't see the jerk that some people have described him as. The procedure went quick and they didn't find any issues.

I got a great shock too though. Just before taking me back to the procedure room, Dr Woodman's nurse came in and gave me a card that said my pre-op appointment with Dr. Woodman will be Monday!!! Yes, that's right! Just 3 days after my scope, I will be having my pre-op appt!!!! That's the last thing I need before my surgery!!!

The staff at Baptist East were all very nice and took great care of me. I had just one issue with one nurse. She poked me 3 times and finally got one vial of blood. She did such a bad job that all three places are already showing bad bruises. The one on my hand is swelled up too. Mind you I've had to give blood lots of times and NEVER has anyone had to poke me more than once.  She said I had bad veins and that she didn't usually have this much trouble.  Well I've NEVER had that much trouble.  Oh, well it's over now.

Some of my friends that knew I was going for this procedure on Friday the 13th were asking me why  I'd have this done on such a 'bad' day.  Well for me it turned out to be a great day.  The scope went fine and I got my pre-op appointment about 3 or 4 weeks earlier than I'd expected!!!  I'd call that a good day.

EGD appointment

Feb 04, 2009

I can't believe it.  I just did my labs and stuff yesterday and then this morning I get a call to schedule my EGD scope!  I go in on Feb 13th to have that done.  The coordinator said I have to be there at 11:00 and they will do the scope at about 1:00.  I'll be put to sleep to have it done (my first time EVER to be put to sleep for anything).  So I'm a little nervous, but I know it will all be fine.

more testing than I knew about

Feb 03, 2009

I went yesterday for what was supposed to be labwork and x-ray.  Well was I surprised when they had a battery of tests for me to do.  I had several (seemed to be like 8 or 10) vials of blood drawn, an EKG, chest X-ray, and ultrasound of almost all of my organs.  (everything from my chest to my waist)  None of it was that hard, but I didn't know they'd do all of that.

It gives more comfort though knowing that they are checking for everything before cutting on me.

Now I wait for the results and for the EGD scope appointment.  I'm getting SO close to surgery.

going for testing

Jan 30, 2009

Dr.  Woodman's office requires me to have an x-ray, bloodwork, and a scope (EGD).  Tuesday I go to have the x-ray and bloodwork done.  Then I wait  (oh I'm so sick of waiting) for the doctor's office to call me and schedule me for my scope.

THEN after all the results are in, I will finally get my pre-op appointment with Dr. Woodman.
