Jenny B.
I'm a happily-married, 29 year old mother of a 3 year old girl and 2 year old boy. I work as the New Patient Coordinator for the Alabama Pain Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Since obesity is an exacerbator of pain, I come into contact with gastric bypass patients quite often. The benefits to their pain control are phenomenal! I've started suffering from chronic pain in my lumbar spine, and I also suffer from fatigue, shortness of breath, acid reflux and mild depression. My depression is due largely to cyclothalmic bipolar disorder, but also to my morbid obesity. It's my hope that these and future health concerns are alleviated by WLS.
I've been overweight my entire life. I must say that I truly am "big-boned", but there's a lot of fat covering these bones! Like most overweight young women I was nicely squishy, but my young, collagen/elastin-filled skin held the fat fairly close to my frame. Two C-sections a year apart and I can definitely say that my midriff has suffered! I've gone from a bloated hourglass to an apple with a head and feet. Since my weight keeps slowly creeping upward and my self-esteem keeps slowly edging downward, I've finally decided to take control.
I plan to keep everyone up-to-date on my journey, but I'll post the updates in my blog in order to minimize the length of my page. So if you're interested, check there!
