I am 43 y/o.  I was not overweight too much in high school.  I have a large skeletal frame and it makes me look big.  Not blaming her, but my mother had me try weight watchers.  I guess that's when I really started having issues mentally.  Of course when college came around, the weight did start coming on.  Then it would come off.  Then it would come on. So on and so on.  Tried em all Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers, Body for Life, Southbeach.  Some weight would come off, but then it came back plus some.  I am at my high weight of 274 pounds.  Last year I had my hip replaced due to early advanced arthritis.  Yes I'm young but that's why I need to get this weight off.  To preserve my prosthetic hip and to extend the need for surgery on my other hip.  My orthopedic surgeon was the one who suggested WLS.  It just has taken me this long to process the idea.  My PCP is also very supportive and excited.  My best cheerleader is my husband of 13 years.  He has never nagged me, but has always supported me when I tried to lose weight.  He is pretty much a fitness fanatic but I love him.  The more I read about WLS the more excited I get>
