End of September Update
Sep 28, 2010
Looks like all the pain post surgery has gone finally!
Currently I am down to 280 exactly (Start Weight @ 310)
30lbs. lost so far (1 1/2 months post surgery)!
My next fill is October 11th so my goal these next two weeks is to lost 10 lbs and to be down to 270 for the fill. . . hard goal since i've died down on the weight loss but i'm cleared to do MMA/Lifting/ & Running now so I am going to take full advantage of that!
Almost to my first weight goal of 250 which I haven't been in over 6 years so that will be a huge accomplishment for me!
List of goals I have made for myself:
Weight goals:
Under 300 - Passed in 1st/2nd week after surgery
Under 250 - Goal for End of this Year!!
Under 220 - Goal for Graduation from College in March!!
Under 200 - Goal for June (my birthday!)
Goal Weight of 185 overall - Would Like to Hit this By end of 2011 !!
Lifting Goals:
I want to be able to come up with a routine that involves 5 days a week of lifting & cardio (With a side goal of alternate schedules so I can switch it up every 6 weeks!)
Another big goal for me is being able to incorporate a leg workout routine as well because I have not lifted legs since Junior Year of H.S. which is a big mistake!
Eating Goals:
Getting Rid of Soda & Sugary Drinks - Goal Completed!
I want to be able to switch my eating habit of 2-3 meals currently to the following:
Breakfast, Snack (healthy snack or Protein), Lunch, Snack (healthy Snack or Protein), Dinner
Side Goal is to drink over 2.5L of water a day!
Another goal is making sure I write down everything I eat starting October 1st
Running Goals:
I want to be able to run over 3 miles no breaks
After goal #1 is complete I want to train to run 8-10 miles (myself not competitivly)

End of August Update
Aug 31, 2010
Everything is starting to set in place. My pain has gone down to minimal since surgery and since moving to the soft foods diet I'm noticing stuff I used to eat a full plate of I am only eating half or less of that same food! I do notice that I need the fill so I can be in the "Green Zone" as right now my appetite is coming back slowly. I have only lost 1-2 lbs since the 1st weigh in but that is not a big deal because i notice it coming off in the form of moving clothing sizes (XXL now XL) and (42 waist to 38 waist). This is def. a morale booster and that has been the best part so far. Still have swelling below my port and puffiness and swelling above my port which is the majority of the pain anymore. I should be ready to weightlift, run, continue my MMA workouts starting mid Sept. I AM EXCITED FOR THAT!
Recommendations for Soft Foods:
1) Quesadilla (Grill it extra it is nice and flaky)(use less cheese and more chicken or veggies *watch the skins on the veggies some don't go down good*)
2) Grilled Chicken Breast
3) Soups (None cream based ones if possible)
4) Flatbread sub (6in) from Subway *even though I can only eat half it is a good leftover to eat later*
Things to Watch out for:
1) Noodles - Do not go down good and tend to get stuck
2) Celery- Even though it is awesome to eat the threads on it get stuck almost every time
3) Tomatoes- Skins are tough to eat so try to not use them if you want to eat tomatoes
4) Apples- Again skins are the issue
5) Fatty Meats - Try to substitue chicken, fish, pork, lamb instead of Beef

1 Week Post Surgery Weigh In & Recommendations
Aug 24, 2010
Weighed in on 8/17 exactly 1 week after my relize band surgery.
Starting Weight: 310
Current Weight:: 288
Total Loss: 22lbs. EXCITED!
Top Menu Items to Eat after Surgery
B- I like to start with Applesauce, sugar free jello, or pudding/grits
L- Cottage Cheese is a lifesaver! High in Protein and is Low in Calories (used 1% so its not as watery) and homemade hummus from chickpeas, creamy peanut butter, and garlic (Salt & Pepper to taste) mixed to gether and blended down to a smooth liquid (high protein, low calorie).
D-Cottage Cheese again (cannot go wrong), mashed potatoes, and purried chicken w/ sour cream based sauce or mustard (some people can't do spicy after surgery so watch out)
Remember serving size is 3oz total for your meals that helps alot; also try 1oz servings of 3 items for your meal so you don't overeat or get bored of 1 item.
Chew, Chew, Chew so nothing gets stuck!
Also getting in at least 2 protein drinks helps curve hunger and is good for you. (Between B & L , & Between or After L & D) the extra 40g of protein will help maintain your muscles while in your current incapacitated state.
Cannot wait for my first fill 9/10/10!
