This is my story as of now.  I am 51 years old and I have a wonderful hubby and great kids, stepkids and 11 soon to be 12 grandchildren.  I have been heavy most of my life,  granted years ago when I went thru a divorce I lost alot of weight believe it or not they tried to make me gain weight back then.  but since then I have gradually put weight on.

About 3 years ago I was told I had Thyroid cancer,  believe me when I tell you that did not help me lose weight at all. After many attemps to lose weight by myself  I made the decision that I was going to have surgery.  I had to I was not sleeping, I had a hard time even getting up from the floor, (if I ever was stupid enough to get down there), I have high colesterol, border line diabetic and I wanted to feel alive again.  It is amazing how many times I would pass on doing things with my grandchildren or my friends because I would be embarassed or physically could not do things.

The morning of my surgery I weighed 285.5lbs,  WOW I was amazed, how could I ever weigh that much,  but I did,  I had my surgery on the 16th of January 2007 and so far it is going pretty well.  I would love to eat something though.  I am very hungry,  I have been on a liquid diet since the 2nd of January, and I am ready to try some soft foods.   Hopefully  Soon.  I did get on the scale today Feb, 1st and I have lost 30.5 lbs.  That was a great feeling.

As soon as I can I will write more.

Today is the 20th of February,  I made it,  it has been over a month now and according to the scale I am officially down 40 lbs from the day I started my liquid diet,  23 from the date of surgery.  I am doing pretty good,  I was just told about a week ago that I could start eating food, and it does taste good.  I am amazed at how fast I get full.  It is hard to get everything in, but I try.  I need to work on that.  It is really harad for me when I am out of my routine,. But the thing that I am most pleased about is how good I feel.  I have so much more energy, and I can do alot of the little things that i thought I would never be able to do again, Like what you say,  Well like cutting my toe nails,  getting up off the floor (without making it a major event) bending over and playing with my dogs has been wonderful,  and they love it also.

My next goal is to lose 20 more lbs in 2 months,  we are going on a cruise the middle of April and I want to be down 60 lbs,  Just think of all the clothes I will have to buy,

I will post more later.

march 19th, 2007

It has now been 2 months since my surgery.  and I feel wonderful,  I have lost a total of 51 lbs.  I have not had any major problems. (knock on wood).  I find that there are some things that I can eat and some that I tried and I think I will pass next time.  I have so much more energy. and I like the new me alot.  I can't get over how good I feel.  I can do simple things like bending over, getting up from the floor,  just the other day it had snowed out so the next week my grandkids came over,  I put on a pair of snowpants(something I had not been able to zip up in years) and went out with them.  We trucked thru the deep snow and I flung myself in the snow, and it was so cool,  I knew i could get up from there without assistance.  wow what a moment.  tying shoes is wonderful now,  I don't have to just buy clip ons.

I will write more later, but I feel wonderful,  would do it again in a heartbeat.

Take Care
