Yesterday, I finally had the luck of the Irish.  My smallest pair of pants are too big.  I checked out myself at Wal-mart, and knew I was wearing those ugly pants for the last time.  Today, when I got up, I got on the scale and I have lost 49 lbs.  37 lbs since Jan 4, when I had the GS.  Then, a nurse in another unit was in the elevator with me and asked me how much weight I had lost, a definite WOW moment.  And, lastly, one of the housekeeping men, commented on my new hair.  Yeah, I'd do it over again a thousand times. 

I came home again today after my second admission since my surgery.  I had the VSG on Monday, the 4th.  I went home on Tuesday.  I started vomiting about 4am, with bloody emesis.  At 0830, I called the surgeons office, to let them know.  Needless to say, I was readmitted.  I felt like something was stuck in the middle of my chest.  So, either the retching or the vomiting moved whatever was causing the blockage and now I feel like my old self. 
No pain from my incision sites.  Tolerating clear liquids well.  Looking forward to regular food, but am willing to wait.  Will update later.

Well here it is only hours left before my surgery.  I can't believe 2 weeks has gone by so fast.  I've done pretty good on the liquids, but I still want to chew.  I guess someone needs to design a chew toy for bariatric patients on their liquid fast.  Anyway, good luck to all those who are scheduled in the AM, I hope all goes well and look forward to reading your posts and viewing your photos.  I'll talk with you soon.

Day number 12 of the liquid diet.  Only 36hrs before my surgery.  I'm finally ready.  Gonna pack my bag tonight and get a good night's sleep.  I'm working tomorrow, so it will help the nerves.  I'll post pics tomorrow. 

Well here it is on Christmas Eve and I'm in the midst of my pre-surgical liquid diet.  This is day #3 and I have a raging headache.  Tylenol is not taking care of the problem.   My surgery is scheduled for January 4, 2010.  I can't wait to start the new year with my new self.  Keep your fingers crossed and keep praying for me. 

Ok, so it's been a few months since I've posted anything.  Here's the latest;  I have completed the nutritional consult, the psych eval, and had an echocardiogram today.  My 5 year weight hx is in the doctor's office and now I have about 2 weeks left before my final 6mth weigh in.  I have started working with physical therapist to increase my metabolism and to be in the best shape I can be before surgery.  I hope to have surgery before Thanksgiving.  I have one test left to complete and that is the upper GI.  I can't have this done until I'm approved for surgery.  So keep your fingers crossed and I'll update soon.
