I was one of those girls that never gave a thought to what I weighed or what size I wore because I was just average in every way including my weight. I weighed 110 lbs until I got pregnant and then due to undiagnosed gestational diabetes I gained 80 pounds post delivery. I somehow, with zero effort got back down to 135 before our boo boo baby was conceived and gained 90 pounds with that one. After my second baby I quit drinking and lost down to 103 lbs at my lowest and then stabilized at 120 until I got sick with Lupus and Fibromyalgia.

The weight just kept piling on over the years and could lose 30-40 lbs but I always put them back on and added some more. All that extra weight wreaked havoc with my ability to function physically and by September 2011 I was desperate. I looked into the VSG then, but gave myself a year to really put an effort into changing our diet to one that was healthy but also sustainable. My goal was a reasonable 2 lbs a month loss.  I gained 5 lbs in that year, but my husband lost 30!

once the decision to have the surgery was made I moved as fast as the system allowed to be able to get it done by the end of the year, which I did :) I have not had any major concerns and never once doubted that the VSG was the right choice to force structure and thoughtfulness onto my eating life.

i am truly grateful for the gift that is VSG.kiss
