Well, my consultation did not go as I had hoped. First of all, the
intake person basically told me that if I cannot lose weight on a
diet the lap band will not work for me.
She then preceeded to attempt a high pressure sale on the RouxNY sugery. When I told her that I would be paying cash since my insurance covers nothing, then asked her what kind of "cash package discount" they offer she said "we dont do that". When I inquired as to the price of the lap band, which my research online had indicated it was between $12k and $15k, she said "Yes, for the surgery only, and you would have to also pay cash for your anisthesiologist, and upper GI, etc" and she said it would end up being right around $20k. She then started off with "If you are going to to pay that for a lap band you should just go ahead and pay $35k for the RouxNY"> Needless to say it was not a positive experience. I am somewhat torn as to what to do...part of me says to go to another hospital and see what they have to say about the lap band, maybe where I went was just not a good example. The other part of me wants to just forget it and go join weight watchers, again.

ITS A BLIZZARD IN SOUTH BEND

Well, my consultation is scheduled for Thursday (2 DAYS) and
we are in the middle of a huge blizzard here in South Bend.
I went home for lunch today and some of the streets in my subdivision
are plowed shut. YIKES>>>> I am hoping my consultation will not
have to be postponed....I wont be the one to postpone it...I have 4 wheel drive and will get there irregardless, I just hope THEY dont
postpone it. I can hardly sleep as it is ! I will post more on Thursday after my consultation. WISH ME LUCK !!!! I pray everything goes smoothly.

3 days till my consultation for Lap Band surgery, and I cant wait.
I finally quit smoking, and started on the patch. The thought of the surgery and my weight loss journey takes alot of the focus off smoking so that helps. I am so ready to get started with the rest of my life. I cant wait to lose this weight. I barely remember what it was like to be thin. I have injuries to my leg and hip from a head on collision in 2002, and the extra weight doesnt help one bit with that. I want to lose 125 lbs. I am 6 ft tall, which is rare for a female. I just feel so large and heavy. I used to be thin and felt great. Life has taken its toll in the weight department. I am so excited to have a 2nd chance at 41 years old. Not many people can say that. When I was young and thin I was really into fashion. Cant wait to buy cute little outfits again ! I am ready to feel good physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I am hoping I wont have a long wait for the surgery, as I dont have to jump thru all the hoops insurance makes you jump through. I will post more after my consultation. Wish me Luck ! :)
