2nd Fill.....
Jul 29, 2008
OK....so I got my 2nd fill yesterday! I was pretty sore in my chest/tummy area, but that seems to be normal. So far things go down good. But then I have really only been on liquids and soft foods, tomorrow will be the first day on solid foods. I am down 35lbs WOO HOO! I am hoping this 2nd fill will help me lose to get under 250lbs! I am 5lbs away!!
I CAN DO IT!!!
I CAN DO IT!!!
2.5 weeks post op!! :o)
Jun 27, 2008
OK...so I guess it has been awhile since I posted..hehe. But I have been busy! Surgery went well. It was harder to recover from than I thought it would be. But i also felt good much quicker than I thought I would! I actually felt 100% better when I STOPPED taking the pain meds. The gas pains were pretty painful, but I found that the hot pad was my BEST FRIEND and I pretty much stayed on my tummy for the first 3-4 days! My gas pains were mostly in my tummy and didn't ever get to my shoulders. woo hoo! During that week I was pretty sure I was going to starve to death and by Friday noon and couldn't take the pain of starving anymore an drank a glass of milk and felt SOO much better! Figured it couldn't hurt since I was starting my full liquids on Saturday anywho! But by Friday I was feeling pretty good and on Monday a week after surgery I felt like my old self again! Cept I had incisions that were a bit sensitive. Pureed phase was interesting....but I found that soups were the best pureed meal. I also really like pureed tuna with some mayo, mustard and a pickle. YUM. Then a week ago I started on the healing diet and my first thing to eat was a scramble egg and it tasted SOOOO GOOD! LOL It was great to finally chew again! I had my 2 week post-op appt with my Dr on Tuesday and all went well. He was pleased with my 25lb weight loss. As am I!
He looked at my incisions and they looked fine. Which was a relief since I was allergic to the tape. I got big blisters under the tape and OH they hurt more than the incisions! So anywho I go back on July 14th and HOPEFULLY I will get my first fill. It will be nice to feel some restriction. I can eat pretty much normal right now. Cept that I am on the Healing diet. OH and I m so proud of ME...I have been walking 1.5miles every night!! That to me is amazing! So anywho until next time....sleep tight!
One Week to go.....
Jun 02, 2008
and I am sooo nervous! But I am not going to back out at all! This is what I have wanted for 4 years now and I am going to get it and become a healthier me! It is crazy that it is finally a week from surgery! I didn't think this day would ever get here! To think I was absolutely hopeless for a while. YEAH it is happening in one week!!!!! WOOO HOOOO! I have my pre-Op appt on Weds. unfortunately jeremy can't be there. OH well I will be fine, and then on Friday I will find out what time my surgery is and all the details of that day!
Day 1 of pre-op diet............
May 25, 2008
and I am soooooo hungry!! This is as hard as I thought it would be, but I am not as prepared as I thought I was! lol This evening I have felt like I was going to go crazy and finally decided that some raw veggies wouldn't hurt a thing. I don't know anyone who got fat from raw veggies.
SO I hope it is ok for the first few days while I try to get used to this. The shakes are pretty good and the protein bar was good...I liked jeremy's better....but I ate mine slowly hoping it would make a difference and it did until I smelled someone BBQ'ing in the neighborhood!!! Talk about RUDE! Anywho........until next time....

May 23, 2008
SO I had my NUT appt on Weds. and it went fast and well! She basically weighed me....285...but I was happy cuz I have lost 5lbs since I was last weighed! Wooo hooo! Then she took us into the room and handed me a paper and said "here is your Pre-Op diet. Any questions?" I looked at it and saw that I can only have 800-960 Calories a day...Protein shake for breakfast and lunch, Protein bar for snack and then a frozen meal for dinner. The first thing I said was...I am going to starve! LOL BUT I am trying to look at it as a jump start to my weight loss journey and HOPING I can lose some weight before surgery so I have that much less to lose after surgery! Best part about the whole pre-Op diet is my DH Jeremy is going to do it with me. He is being so supportive and I truly appreciate it. He wants to lose some weight anywho and this will help him out a bit. So that is it for now! I can't believe this is really happening!!!
OH happy day!

So what a relief it was to talk to the lady at the hospital yesterday! The lady at my surgeon's office just wasn't making herself clear about the money situation and I was getting REALLY nervous that we were going to have to come with with $3800 by my surgery date. But after talking to the lady at the hospital she said I would only need a $400 deductible HAPPY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So what a stress reliever that was! The rest will be paid after the surgery....but worst case is $3000. Which is a lot, but manageable.

SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 07, 2008
Well this is my first blog and I am happy to say I am finally approved for surgery!!!!! This is has been a really long battle for me. Started in Hawaii...where DH was in the Navy. I started a program with Tripler Army Hospital to get Open Gastric Bypass. Everytime I would think that I might get somewhere in that program, the Doctor would be sent to Iraq. Then we wouldn't have a surgeon for a while and finally we would get one and then he would be sent to Iraq. So knowing we were getting out of the Navy soon I just quit the program. Well we get moved back to Utah in Oct of 2006 hubby finds a job, we move into our new house and 6 days, now March 2007, before our Tricare Prime insurance was gone we find out that Tricare approved Lap Band surgery last August 2006 and I could have had the surgery! SO in hopes that they would still honor the surgery if I got things going in the next 6 days I called and got referred to Dr. Alldredge office just to find out on that 6th day that everything was null and void as of the 13th of March. AHHHH I wanted to scream LOUD! Then to add salt to the wound I got an approval letter from Tricare about a week letter. So with my DH's new insurance they didn't approve any kind of weightloss surgery. So I just figured I was going to be overweight the rest of my life cuz nothing else i tried to do to lose weight worked.
THEN my DH was getting discourged with his job and started looking else where. Landed and AWESOME job with AWESOME insurance and it took about a month....maybe a little more and I have FINALLY BEEN APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!! But because the hospital is out of network I have to come up with 30% and my hope is they will let us make payments of we can give them a nice chunk of money up front. So that is the last 3.5 years in a nutshell! ....until next time....Take care!
