I have hit a plateau already.  I had my surgery on the 17th and lost 20 lbs in the first two weeks and now I am "stuck".  I know people say this is just temporary but it is killing me!!  I am doing all that I am supposed to do as far as eating/exercising goes but still nothing.  I just keep losing and gaining the same 4 oz.  I don't weigh myself every day for this reason.  I go back to work tomorrow and hope that will help keep my mind off of it.  I see my surgeon for my 1 month follow up on Thursday, I wonder what he's going to say.

They called on Friday January 19th, one day before my birthday, to tell me that I have been cleared and have done everything i need to do to have surgery and we scheduled my date for February 17th.  I am excited and scared but READY!  I didn't appreciate all the classes and everything I was made to go through at first but now that my surgery is right around the corner and everything has come together I appreciate what I learned.  I realize I wasn't ready when I tought I was.  Also, if I couldn't make it through all of this then I couldn't make it after surgery.  It's been a long road getting to this point but it's worth it. 

Today I was cleared by psych, nutrition and exercise reps at Dr. V's office for surgery.  Now I just have to wait on my months to go by with my PCP.  That should be in November.  Submit to insurance and wait.  Hopefully I will get to have my surgery before March 1 of next year cuz if not I will have to pay my deductible all over again.  Hope and faith is all I got right now.

Everything checked out ok on my upper endoscopy yesterday.  I had a little damage from my reflux but nothing my doc says would cause a problem.  I slept soooooo good yesterday after I got home from the hospital.  I am working on my second month of supervised diet by my PCP.  She wasn't real happy with me last time because I had actually gained some weight but I'm not sure about how accurate that weight was because when I went to my surgeons office two days later I had lost 5 lbs and I'm not sure that was correct.  I have, however, stopped all carbonated beverages and caffeine.  I started yesterday since I had good meds  and new I wouldn't have a headache but today was a whole different story but I figured I had one day down and now two so I'm not going back now.  Withdrawal is awful!!  I'm looking forward to getting through this supervised diet and on with my surgery but I realize these 6 months are giving me an opportunity to change my bad habits so that's what I'm doing.  My next appointment is with my nutrition and exercise counselors.  Wish me luck!

I had my first appointment today with Dr. V.  He is really super nice.  I had to hear what I was fearing though.  I have to do the 6 month doctor supervised diet per my insurance company.  It's ok though.  I'm still pushing through.  I'm definately not giving up that easy!!  Dr. V's staff wasn't as friendly as I thought they would be after reading every one's opinion.  They weren't mean or rude just quick and factual.  The one that was SUPER nice and explained thouroughly my insurance information was Renae.  Insurance stuff is complicated and she takes time to explain it.  I look forward to going on this journey with them all.  I don't feel like they will let me down.

I finally got the call today that my "packet has been approved" by Dr. V and I have an appointment on Friday.  I'm so excited.  I've been thinking about what I want to do.  I love to camp and hike.  I can't wait to get back out there!!!

Ok....I've been thinking about weight loss surgery for a long time now and had to get it out of my head that it's taking the easy way out.  It's not always so black and white. I found a surgeon in Charlotte and tried to contact them.  They told me I had to attend an informational seminar first and I agreed.  The seminar was worth my time. There were several things covered there I had never considered.  So I filled out my packet of information and was told at the end of the class that she might could work me in some time that week.  Well, I never did receive a call and so I called them on Friday.  She told me that I cannot make an appointment until I have been contacted by them and told that my packet was approved.  She said it could take one to two weeks.  So at this point I was a little confused but said ok.  Does anyone have any experience with Southeast Bariatrics and how long it takes to get an appointment.  I really liked Dr. Voelinger when he was speaking and feel like he has lots of experience and would really like to see him.  Maybe I'm just being impatient.  Maybe I'll hear from them this week.
