Hello all,

As you know, I have maintained my size for 5 years now, and am very happy.

I guess my note to you all today is: take it one day at a time, enjoy the journey, don't be too hard on yourself and congratulate yourself with something nice when you do well. Not with food, but with a new blouse, a nice scarf. When I lost the weight, I started to treat myself to bras and pantyhose. Don't laugh ....when you are a fatty like I was, you know how desperately you wish to wear the pretty bras, the stockings that require sexy garter belts and panty hose with the nice designs. I was so happy to wear regular panty hose, not queen size, that I was able, NO LIE, to fill a Glad garbage bag with all kinds of panty hose, in every color. yes, I know, I went overboard, but that is how I chose to reward myself for a good week, a new pound being lost.  I have gotten a little better. but I still reward myself weekly with a nice fragrance, a book, a massage, some mascara, and yes, shoes!!

Hello all, it has been a very very long time since I recorded updates but it has been 5 years since I had the gastric bypass surgery and I must say, it is the absolute best decision I have made. I feel wonderful!! I look wonderful!!

My journey was not an easy one. I developed an infection quickly after the surgery, I was hospitalized 4 times. that's right FOUR times. but my surgeon was so good to me. before the surgery he sat me down and told me of the many complications that can occur. he told me to go home and think and PRAY,talk to family members, join a support group and pray some more before calling him again with my decision. so that is what I did. although, there were complications, the weight came off so fast I could not keep up.

I went from a size 22/24 to a solid 8/10. I am still a size 8/10 after 5 years. my shoe size even went down. I love shoes but I had to give them ALL away and start over. I went from a size 10 wide, and I now wear a size 8 1/2 - 9. I can wear my high heels and not feel the pain and swelling. I love sexy clothes, and now I wear bathing suits, short skirts, and the pretty bras in the regular size section of the department store.

every year my daughter and I go on vacation, and people always mistake me for her sister. I LOVE THAT. I can breath so much better now, my knees don't crack and make noise when I get up. I love that I am able to take the seat between two people and actually fit!! I love that my health has improved tremendously. no more asthma medication. I feel wonderful you guys. and it is because I took the step to improve my life. I got my life back, I am no longer held hostage to FAT and excess weight.

Please keep in touch with your surgeon, research his credentials, ask a million questions, join a support group and by all means DO THIS FOR YOU!!
