My story is short like me.  I'm happily married to a great guy who has been supportive through the failed diets and this whole process.
I have been heavy since I was a child.  I was taught to always clean my plate and that taking seconds and even third helpings was fine as long as you finished what you took.  The Holidays, or anytime the family got together (which was nearly every Sunday) were occasions to feast.  As I became an adult I knew I had to change my overeating habits, but I was always hungry.   Painfully hungry.  I have been on every diet there is and have worked out for hours on end with little to no results.

My husband and I first explored Gastric By-pass surgery three years ago, but I was scared to take that step.  Being a respiratory Therapist I had seen some surgeries go bad.  I said I would only do this surgery as a last resort.  Well after both my parents died and I saw myself gaining more weight, my sugars getting worse and with high blood pressure I knew I had to do something.
Thankfully, my husband had a friend who went to Dr. Aranow and he had good results.  After the first meeting with Dr. Aranow I knew I was finally ready to make a huge lifestyle change.  I was finally ready to admit that I could not lose the weight and keep it off just by diet and exercise alone.  Surgery was my answer.

Six months after the surgery and I feel great.
