I was chubby in jr. high, weighing about 30 lbs more than I should have.

I lost weight in high school:   I was the skinniest cheerleader on the sqaud.  I weighed 102.

I gained my weight back in college, plus some.

I had a premature baby in 1990 (eclampsia), a mild stroke and retinal hemmorgaing.  I had gained 70 lbs.

I lost about half that weight, and had a breast reduction.

I got pregnant with triplets in 1992.  Only twins resulted, along with 55 more pounds. Gestational diabetes hung around for a while... classifying me as type 2.

I went on a 700 calorie-a-day, doctor-supervised diet, which also included carb restriction, high protein, and "phen-phen" (before phenflouramine went off the market).    I lost a lot of weight.  I was able to get back down to 109.  I got a tummy tuck to help the damage that fourteen pounds of baby can do.

Phenplouramine went off the market.  I had built up a tolerance to phentermine. I gained the weight back.

I have yo-yo'd back and forth between the high 160's and low 140's for the last fifteen years.

In that time, diagnoses of PCOS, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, CAD, clinical depression, diabetes T2, alopecia areata, and anemia have plagued me.  I've had D and C's, Oophorectomy, laparoscopic surgeries for female issues, and even lymph nodes removed.   I see a top endocrinologist in SF (Dr. Nathan Becker),  but only my thyroid/depression has been ameliorated.

No amt. of metformin, lipitor, cytomel, synthroid, or byetta has helped me to lose weight or feel satiated.

I am "only" fifty pounds overweight.  Don't hate on me for that.  Fifty pounds still has me tired, depressed, lethargic, diabetic,  and heart diseased.  Fifty pounds and a bmi of over 30 classifies me as obese (at 5"1').  Bear in mind that I work hard to eat low carb and exercise regularly.  This hard work has kept me from gaining even more weight.  But no amt. of diligence has gotten me to the weight my endocrinologist wants me to weigh.

This is my last resort.  I work hard and am disciplined.  I am hoping that finallly, after VSG, all the hard work will finally WORK!
