Hi! I am very excited I just made my first appointment with Dr. Bright. It has been a very long road to reach this point, Since I first started to pursue surgery almost 8 months ago. I was so excited this morning when I got my call saying I could make my appointment, I started to cry. When the receptionist answered my heart was beating so very fast. My dream was starting to come together. After she asked me several questions she came back with a date, she said the 15th. I replied of March??? She said no of May. I was very disappointed, But I have waited this long what is two more months! So for all of you still waiting please don't give up!
Okay!!! Hello to everyone! It is May 15,2003 and I have just returned from my appointment with Dr. Bright. I have to say he is a very nice person and very informative. I left his office with a huge smile on my face and very excited. My surgery day is for July 7,2003 whoooooo!!! :)
Hello to everyone!! It is June 28,2003. I only have 8 days left until I can start being a LOOSER!! First time in my life I want to be a looser. I am like a kid waiting for summer break to start, I can't wait. I think I have wished June away, and now it is almost gone. I am not nervous yet but I am sure I will be. Had my blood work done and everything was normal. YEAH!! That was the last of the testing, so only thing in my way now is those 8 days. :) I have gone to the store and got all the goodies I will be needing for after the surgery. One less worry.
My children are excited for me and that is a great comfort. At first they were not sure about what I was doing, but after showing them the web site and some of the before and after pics, I got cool mom! That made me feel so very good. Dr. Brite's office has been wonderful to me. I feel I ask some pretty odd questions but they assure me that it is okay and answer them for me. I go in at 5 am pacific daylight time on the 7th of July.

July 15, 2003 Well hello to everyone! I am now on the loosing side!! Went into the hospital on Monday July 7 at 5 am. Everything went very smoothly. Surgery lasted about 4 and half hours with no problems. After I was done in recovery they took me up to my room, where my soul mate was waiting for me! I didn't have to get up out of bed until the next day. I was ready to get up and move. Having this done lap made it so very easy. The pain for me was minimal, felt like I had a side ache. On the fourth day my drain tube was taken out and hey my side ache went away! It has been fairly easy at home with eating. My problem has been the drinking. I have been concentrating so much on the food part that I forgot I can not drink the way I use to. It has been very hot here and oh my how I want to chug and nice Ice cold glass of water it is just not the same one ounce every 15 min. I have found that a nice sugar free Popsicle is a wonderful help! I have not weighed myself and don't plan to until I go back to the doc witch is not until July 24. I am so very excited to have the next step in my journey take place and I am waiting for the other great times in my journey to come.
August 8,2003 Well it has been a while since I have updated but I have been trying to stay busy. I get my walking in all ready up to 2 miles every other day. I am on the pureed diet now have 3 weeks left of if. Thank goodness! I started out at 341 lbs and I am now at 304!! I am though a little disappointed with the loss. I am wondering why the loss has tapered off? I have gone from loosing about a pound a day to a pound every 3 days. :-(
Although I should be happy the inches are melting a way.
Starting inches as of 6/19/03 are:

Chest 55"
Waist 68"
Hips 61"
Thighs 33 1/2"
As of my 2 week post op appointment 7/23/03
Arm 18" -1"
Chest 52" -3"
Waist 66" -2"
Hips61" -0
Thighs 28" -5
for a total of 11 inches off in 2 weeks
I am feeling great just got off light duty at work boohoo. I was getting tired of that. I drive para transit which transports the physical and mentally challenged and elderly, around town. There is lots of exercise in that! I still am finding it hard to sip my water it has been so very hot here I just want to drink! I worked so hard on dealing with the food issues of the small portions that I never thought about drinking. Well I best be on my way it is almost time to go to work. Hello again... It has been some time since I have posted... In that time away I was remarried and moved to a new state.
I have regained some weight and have a bleeding ulcer.... so in again we go to have a revision. I am more scared this time then last. Risks are higher this time around. Surgery is just around the corner Jan 14Th 2009. I have only 1 and half days of work left and then off for who knows how long. Well I better prepared for what is to come I hope
Time to get dinner started, wow it sure will be different in a few days. Dinner will be SO easy!

Today is Post-op appointment day. I am going to be so busy with appointments today It will help keep my mind off of tomorrow.
Doc at 8 am, Hospital at 10 am, work is in there somewhere, then a Dentist appointment at 2:30pm, some more work then home. I am on clear liquids today... nervous
