"Dr. David Lourie is very soft spoken, very professional and his demeanor is very comforting. After visiting 2 other surgeons, I knew Dr. Lourie was the one for me. My impression of Dr. Lourie has not changed since my first hearing him speak. Meeting with him during my initial consultation was affirmation of his knowledge and confidence in Bariatric Surgery. His office staff is pretty busy. You often seem harried by their brisk manner however they will answer any questions you have - just make sure to ask! As of now (Pre-Op) I think the best thing for individuals considering WLS with Dr. Lourie or other surgeons in his medical group is to attend the symposium on Bariatric Surgery held the 1st Wednesday of each month - contact Huntington Memorial Hospital for specific dates or look them up on the web - then form your own opinions. I know that Huntington Hospital does have a support group and Dr. Lourie encourages your post op attendance. The risk of surgery is brought up during the initial symposium. He also will let you know of it during your initial consultation. I would encourage people to research the risks on their own as well. As for the 2 last questions, I will update on them after my surgery.! "
