Hi All...just wanted to tell you a little bit about me. I am 34 years young and weigh about 268 lbs. I have always been a big girl, weighing around 185 lbs during high school while playing basketball and volleyball. I had just learned to accept it. I had also learned to deal with the facial hair that I began to grow shortly after getting my period, my mom and several aunts had it, so I just learned how to 'hide' it. In Oct 1994, 13 days before my 21st birthday my sister was killed in a car accident....5 days after my 21st birthday my Grandmother died of cancer. By January 1995 I had gained so much weight, I didn't recognize myself in pictures. I've tried dieting, Weight Watcher's, diet pills, working out like a maniac...but I have never been able to get out of the 200's. I believe it was in 2003 that I finally diagnosed with PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome)..it was all by accident. But after being diagnosed, I felt I had a reason as to why it had been so difficult to lose weight. It is my hope that having WLS will reverse alot of the symptoms I experience from PCOS (they are getting worse as I age) as well as help me be the best me I can be!!
