Wow! How time flies! 11 months post op! Still steaming along!

Apr 21, 2009

Wow! I can't believe it has been almost a year since my surgery! Time FLIES! And, 4 months since I have posted anything on here!

I started at 338 and am at 225 today...I drink too much beer and probably eat too much sometimes, but dammit! I'm a long way from where I was!

I've moved to Vegas, am single, again, and am still just doing what I do. I had some roller coaster times over the past year, heartbreaks, excitements and some things that I just don't know what to think about it!

I just started a "bootcamp" here in Vegas. It's an exercise regime that I go to each morning at 630 and they work us for an hour. Today was my first day and I was sucking wind! I look forward to it though, as I am really trying to get this last part of my weight off.

Well, I hope all is well with everyone! Feel free to write anytime! And if you're ever in Vegas, by all means! Look me up!!!

Keep up the great work!

6 months and few days post op

Dec 05, 2008

Wow. Time flies. I am 6 months post op and feel like I've kinda dropped off the face of the earth. Things are going incredibly well with my weight loss. I've gone from 332 to 250 and am wearing a size 40 jeans, (I wear mens for the most part) and knocking on 38's door. My shirts are mostly XL and Kohl's has become my favorite store!!!

I'm actually back in Monterrey Mexico right now with a friend of mine who just had surgery this morning. The same doctor, the same hospital, etc....and she is doing wonderfully...

I had a chance to see my doctor yesterday and do a follow up body analyzation with the NUT. Things have changed dramatically in 6 months, and they are of course very proud of me. Being back down here has been good for me, and has kind of kick started me into a new phase.

I hope everyone is doing well.....It's good to see some old faces again.

7 weeks post op - LIG

Jul 19, 2008

LIG=Life is Good.

It's hard to believe it has been over 7 weeks since my RNY. I'm down from 338 on April 24, to 320 on the day of surgery to 282 today.
Since my surgery, I've had so very much happen, but the most exciting thing is that I went back to work for a company that I worked for over 5 yrs ago, and I am so very happy being back here! I'm in the process of getting a house down on Lake Hamilton - the commute will be about 40 minutes, but I am good with that. I'll be RIGHT on the Lake - with a little dock on the canal - that is probably 100 ft from my back door.

I've gone through a breakup - one of which I care very much for that person. But, life has to go on, and I have to watch out for what is best for me. I'm the only one to take care of myself.

I'm still medication free - no insulin, no blood pressure meds, etc. I will be going back to see my PCP in a few months and I can't wait to see what my A1C's have dropped to. (They were 13.2 on April 24!) It's kinda cool that my Blood Sugars are running normal now. I am so thankful for this surgery.

I just wanted to drop a quick line and say hi to anyone who may be reading this. I hope you all are doing well.

2 Weeks post op and life is great! (and getting better!)

Jun 10, 2008

Hello world, and everyone else! Welcome! Just wanted to  drop a quick note and say that I'm 2 week post op as of Tuesday (okay, I missed it by a few hours!) and things are going amazingly wonderfully well! I am healing with no complications thus far, I'm drinking my water and eating the things I'm suppose to and life is good. I think I'm down about 15 pounds or so (down about 35 since April 24th - yeah me!) and plan on keeping right on track. I'm starting to walk more (as in exercise) and am going to become more active with things, especially now that I'm past my 2 week mark. I've been up and around since the day of my surgery, and I think that has helped.

I feel wonderful, and am so thankful that I had the chance to change my life.

I've had some wonderful opportunities knock on my door, and I'm taking them! Life is TOOOO short to be unhappy and scared to see what's out there!

I wish you all the very best!

9 days post op and doing GREAT!

Jun 04, 2008

Good morning world! It's hard to believe that I'm 9 days post op and feeling so wonderful about everything. I've had ZERO complications, no problems getting my liquids in, etc!

I am so VERY thankful for having the opportunity to have this surgery!

-9 days with NO INSULIN, NO METFORMIN, NO LISINOPRIL! I LOVE MY RNY!!!

Have a beautiful day world, and thank you for being a part of mine!

xxoo

1 WEEK SINCE MY RNY!

Jun 02, 2008

Good morning everyone, or nobody! LOL

Today is ONE WEEK since my RNY surgery and I feel amazingly wonderful!
NO MEDS since my surgery! No INSULIN, NO METFORMIN, NO LISINOPRIL! NO NOTHING! (except my vitamins, of course!)

I went to see my PCP here in Arkansas, just as a general check up, and to give her all of the info on my surgery. She checked my A1C's and my Blood Sugar. A1C's 8.3 (which I know is still high, but on April 24 they were at 13.2!!!) My Blood Sugar was 106!!! (And on April 24 the first time I went to see her, my fasting blood sugar was 244!) She was sooooo happy and surprised! She of course asked me to monitor my Blood Sugars about 3x a week just in case, which I have ZERO problem with!

I've been working around the house (my dad's home - he passed away in Feb) and am getting it ready to put on the market! (I'm a Realtor, so it's going to be kind of cool to sell the house I grew up in and the house that my dad built!)

I hope everyone's Tuesday goes very well. Keep those dreams in front of you! You are the only one who can make them come true!!!

Welcome to June! Home from Mexico!

Jun 01, 2008

Hello World, or whoever may possibly be reading this!

Just wanted to give a small update! I'm back home in Arkansas from my Lap RNY that I had on 5/27/08 - in Monterrey, Mexico. I actually left Mexico yesterday and have just been as busy as a bee! The flights were great, no problems ~ no complications with ANYTHING, which I am SOOO very thankful for! Once again, I can't thank Dr Javier de la Garza and his wonderful staff and the OCA Hospital in Monterrey for the total hospitality that I received while in Monterrey.

I have so much energy, feel great and just want to go, go, go. I went to GNC and to WalMart to pick up a few things that I needed, and as I passed the Blood Pressure machine at WM, I just HAD to sit down and check it out! 127/79!!! I was TOTALLY stoked! No Blood Pressure meds for almost a week now! My blood sugar was 112 this morning - NO INSULIN or Metformin for almost a week now!! WOOOHOOO!! Life is great!

It was so good to see my little angel, Tico, when I got home! I missed her so very much! She's the light of my life! She has been out chasing lizards this afternoon after the rains! LOL

I just wanted to say hi and let everyone know that things are good....really good. My incisions are healing nicely. I feel great. Today is a beautiful day. Tomorrow is a whole new world!

Keep those you love close -
~Peace

Evening - 2nd day post op

May 29, 2008

Good evening from night fall in Monterrey Mexico!

I just wanted to add a few things to my post this evening.

First of all.....I am Diabetic 2, high Blood pressure and high cholestrol. I was recently put on Insulin, close to 20 units or more a day, on Metformin 2 X 1000mg a day, Lisinopril which is a high blood pressure med, AND Crestor, which most of ya'll know if for High Cholestrol.

I have not taken a drop of Insulin for 3 days now, since the day before my surgery, no Metformin, no Lisinopril, and I am going to wait on the Crestor until I get my CBC done again in a few weeks! I am SOOOO excited. I don't know if it will last forever, but my blood sugars have been great since my surgery. I am SOOO stoked!

And, tonight, I met a wonderful gal named Andrea who helped me translate to the nurses up on the 6th floor. She's 24 yrs old, from Mexico City and just recently graduated from College with a degree in Graphic Design,  has spent four years here in Monterrey and told me that she would be more than happy to help me with my design for my upcoming business venture! I just wanted to tell her thank you so very much for your help! You rock and I look forward to being her tour guide in NYC! We are exchanging Graphic Design perfection for Tour guide capabilities! She speaks great English and it helped me SOOO much!

That's all I have for this evening! I'm kicked back watching Law and Order SVU, admiring Ms Olivia (Mariska Hargitay) just a bit! :) *wink*

Hope everyone has a beautiful evening and keep reaching for your dreams! It's what builds our future!

~Peace

Afternoon of 2nd day post-op

May 29, 2008

Good afternoon from Sunny Monterrey Mexico ~ where life is good, and only getting better, moment by moment.

I hope you are all doing well and that life is treating you kindly, and that you are returning that kindness to someone along the way...it will eventually go full circle.

I awoke this morning at 515 am, ready to face the day, with not much to do physically, yet I was so very thankful for positive results, a wonderful surgeon, excellent highly trained nursing staff and a wonderful support network, at home and with all of my peeps.

I stayed awake this morning and read articles on OH and wondered when my Doctor would be around - to see if I would be released today from the hospital to my hotel room, which is in the hospital, on the 4th floor.
I found myself dozing while reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. The nurse came a few times and changed my IV drip, my antibiotics and antacids and told me the doctor would probably be in around 10am. The kitchen staff brought me some Jello and apple juice and some hot tea around 8:30 this morning! I ate some of the Jello and drank a little bit of the apple juice without any problems! It was good stuff! At 10:01 Dr de la Garza came in and talked to me for a few minutes about things and told me that my progress has been all but completely perfect. Everything has checked out well, and he gave me the "okay" to transfer from the Hospital down to the Hotel on the 4th floor. He also told me that I would be meeting with the Nutritionist today, and gave me a bunch of info for post-op stuff. And then he just sat and shot the breeze with me for a bit, as if we were old friends. Truly amazing man. He also told me that he would take my drain out on Saturday and that I would be free to go home on Sunday! (Continential doesn't have any available seats on Sunday, so I will just wait til Monday when I was scheduled! And I am perfectly okay with that!)

I showered (all by myself) and got all of my things together, and waited for the sweet nurse to come change the gauze on my incision scars - which amazingly haven't leaked much at all. I donned my basketball shorts and Tshirt and my flip flops - and it felt great to be out of a gown! I had out some other basketball shorts on the day after surgery under my gown....I don't like all of my stuff hanging out for the world to see!!! LOL I put my earrings back in and my leather braclett back on, and am good to go now! I feel complete again!

After that, I gathered all of my toys and the nurses escorted me down to the 4th floor to the wonderful Hotel. When we were on the Elevator, the cute little "elevator doorman lady" was shining all of the metal/chrome on the elevator! This place is IMMACULATE!

I got settled into my room, they brought me the remote for the TV and asked me if I needed anything - and then a lady from the Kitchen showed up with some Jello and some Chicken Broth! I thought I had died and gone somewhere really awesome! Over the next hour I ate about 1/2 of my chicken broth and about 1/4 of my Jello, and I took my meds, and then soon went to Nappy's House (my version of taking a nap!). I slept for about an hour and a half and when I got up, I ate the rest of my chicken broth and some more of my Jello! It was great! Yummy stuff! I feel full now! Fat and happy! For the first time, I can say that! Because I know that I am on my way - ready for the lifestyle change, and ready to be a new me! Watch out world! I am on my way with nothing holding me back!!!

Special thanks again to all of the staff here at the OCA Hospital in Monterrey and to Dr de la Garza and Veronica for helping to save my life!

And to the rest of you who have already started on your trip ~ I am happy to be along on the journey, and for those of you who are thinking about it ~ don't wait another moment to save your life! Make a stand and get serious about it! You are the only one who can make that decision and that committment!
~Peace
