My name is Randy Story and I used to weigh over 440 pounds until the miraculous event of weight loss surgery took place in my life! On July 11, 2003 I was reborn into a new world of health and a more effective body. Did it make me sexy? The jury is still out on that issue. Did it make me happier? Yes! Did the surgery change my whole outlook on life? Yeah, boy! I was taking upwards of 15 different pills a day, three shots of insulin, and countless pain medicines for various health-related maladies.
NOW I only take Welbutrin and vitamins. No more diabetes problems. No more blood pressure issues. It is, as I suggested before, a miracle.
I am a public school teacher specializing in theater, speech, and journalism. I was recently certified to instruct in the area of social studies, with a special emphasis on American History. I have a passion for reading, researching(via the internet), and collecting. This Summer was the first time I ever gardened and I love it! I am taking care of my own yard for the first time as an adult, too. I am into home renovation these days, also, since I bought my own place last year just a few weeks before surgery.
I had a lot of changes last year...all for the better.
I live in the relatively small city of West Plains, MO with my five cats: Paladin, Handsome, Charming, Goodfellow, and Buddy. They are very important to me. There is no woman in my life although I just celebrated my 40th birthday on June 3rd. I am still looking and hoping that someone special will come along one day soon.
Just in case, here are some of my interests: reading, theater, antiques, walking, and something new everyday it seems. Especially now that I have my life back!
I have a very supportive family, all of whom live several hours ways in Arkansas, and a very close knit group of friends. These are people that I treasure deeply. They all saw me through some very hard times with my health and they have all been so thrilled for my weight loss program.
I am hoping to be able to help others who are as morbidly obese as I was to start a journey toward a better life through this surgery program. I am always available to answer any questions I can on this subject. I am no expert, but I have lived the experience.
