"My first impression from Dr Bell was that he was a very informed surgeon and detail oriented and this was at the mandatory class. Well then I locked on w him and ok when I called to set up appt and had to talk w nurse Shelia to do so- I was thrown back by how rude they all come off. At first I thought it was me. So I just went on and continued w the process and all the tests. Day of surgery Dr Bell seemed very layed back when I saw him but after I was out of surgery my mom and friend tried talking w him and he was rude to them. So it was not just me. Then my aftercare was not the greatest. At week 4 I was extremely sick and called to get an appointment w him after I had been to my primary dr 7 times and had tests run and found out I had an serious infection and primary dr advised going to surgeon. So I did. Well I was sitting in the room waiting and well I heard Dr Bell and his nurse Shelia say who is gonna pay for this visit since she has no approval from insurance... And then one of the nurses come in and ask if I called the insurance to get prior approval.... Ah yeah I did and I was told not to worry cause this was an ongoing thing and approval would be extended. Well of course they call insurance and dont get the same. So they were more worried about who was gonna pay for my visit instead of seeing me. Then after all this Dr comes in room and snaps at me and tells me basically it is not his problem that I am sick or have an infection. Ah yeah it was his problem since he is who did the surgery and is the one who put the stupid stiches in and that were infected!
Worst Dr I have ever seen and my health is more important! Funny thing is I got home from appt and had approval letter from insurance for the stupid appt. SO guess insurance was paying for the visit.
Dr and staff is more worried about where money is coming from then someones health. Bedside manner was not the greatest either but only saw him 1 time after surgery while I was in hospital for 5days.
Also, what is up with havin to jump thru 10 people to set up an appointment. You are given a number to call and never do you get a human. I called for several tests appts and regular appts and always got voicemail.
Overall horrible experience with this Dr and his staff. Now his counter part was extremely nice and seemed concerned about me when I saw him. But he didnt do bypass- only LapBand.
I have switched all my aftercare to another surgeon and love the new surgeon major difference in care!"
